A ground conductor is meant to carry fault current ONLY.
1. No, these are not dimmable. There is a separate model that is dimmable.
2. No, these can't be used as a 3-way. There is a separate model that is for 3-way set ups.
3. These are wifi only devices. Will not work with z-wave or zigbee protocols. Not much of a concern though unless you have a basic wifi setup which is never recommended. Get a dedicated IoT network for things like this to reduce your risks. Granted, hacking is very rare and the Kasa switches are highly susceptible to hacking but anything is possible for someone who is adamant but then again, that goes for anything, not just smart switches.
4. Connection issues are rare too. Any wifi device can/may have connection issues. Nothing inherent is wrong with these switches. They do require a 2.4ghz network and one that doesn't have a wide channel band. Most IoT devices are very simple, no need to prioritize speed here so keep that network setup simple. I have over 20 Kasa devices in my house, never had a connection issue, but a lot of that is a robust network setup vs. a simple Target purchased router.
5. Tapo is not likely to replace Kasa. Kasa is thriving very well in this space and their product line is growing. I don't see them going away any time soon.

Not disputing the existence of units that don't require the neutral wire, just letting others know that version in not in the Kasa store on Amazon.

That being said, these are controllable locally via a hubitat hub --BUT-- it requires a community plugin. So ymmv on longetivity if the product-line goes tits up and whoever is hacking on it loses interest.
Yup, Im going to get alot of hate for this but whatever... I used to be the one dishing it out and NEVER did this. If you are using this for lighting which is ONLY in the ceiling and not a switched outlet, the hazard is low. VERY LOW.

I have a bunch of Kasa and Feit switches, and they both work well. Kasa switches need a little more space in the switch box primarily because they have those wires built-in and you have to fit that into the box as well. If you need to install multiple smart switches on the same switch box this will crowd the box. Feit switches dont have built-in wires - they have the holes/screws to which you can connect existing wires in the box.
Some people here dont like Feit switches (or bulbs). I have had no trouble though. Feit dimmer switches often go on sale for $20 (2pk) in Costco. They can be installed as 3-way as well.

Buyer beware: once you install some you'll want to install a bunch more! I bought a couple Kasa smart dimmers back in December. Since then I bought enough for basically the whole house. And the 3-way dimmer switch is pricey. But it's been amazing for convenience, timers and setting scenes.
I have a baby in the house and often find my hands full. So giving google vocal commands for lights, fans, sleepy sounds and space heater is a huge help. Especially for dimming lights at sleepy time
Once hacked will be fkdup, lol.
