In 100% of sd posts on hue, we'll always hear "Wow, this is really a deal?!?!?! OMG WHO PAYS THIS MUCH FOR BULBS!!!!(!(@$&!"

I have a lot of hue products as well as a lot of other home automation in place. The consistency of performance and quality of light justifies the premium price. In my experience, the performance of the hue family of products is premium in every way and yes, this is a great deal for 4 color 75W equivalent bulbs.

The simple app and ability to sync with other hardware and software is where Hue shines. My whole house is synched up with dimmer switches, sensors and routines that I have set up. It's seamless and very user-friendly.

Yeah, the kind of people who think 720p and 1080p look the same, and lament about how 4k doesn't look much better than 1080p.

In short, people who need to get their eyes checked. Hue bulbs cost more than the competition for a reason. The only reason sales are becoming so much more frequent is because the competition is increasing over time.

As someone who has a few Hue lights, I still don't understand why they think their products are worth that much more than the competition.

Do any competitors sync like they do?

The last time these were on sale it was for $129, so this is a pretty great deal. Awesome bulbs, made a huge difference in my living room after swapping out my 60w bulbs.

I should also add that their standard 60w bulbs used to go for $50 each.

Well maybe there are people out there that find no difference in quality and reliability with cheaper alternatives?

As much as I love Hue, the newer Nanoleaf Essentials bulbs are the way to go. It's cheaper ($15 per on sale), easier to manage, and has more features with color changing scenes (unlike Hue Labs beta).

Hues are decent bulbs but are simply no longer competitive for the asking price in today's landscape.

I use Sync by GE and have zero issues. Lowe's had them on clearance last month. I only wish they made the larger flood light bulbs.

I have those too and would gladly pay the premium for hue strips every time

Unfortunately they aren't a Zigbee based device. HUE bulbs are and act as a router/repeater for other Zigbee devices in Home Assistant.

If you don't need the router/repeater zigbee function, Nanoleaf is not a bad option.

To be fair, depends on the size of the screen. Most people can't tell between 1080p/1440p/4k on a small screen phone. Large screen tv is a different story.

Back on topic, are these the new versions that are suppose to be brighter?
