Ash is trying to say that while the manufacturer can't use Velcro to describe their product, we can all day long. It's helpful for lots of people to include "Velcro" in the thread subject / title because otherwise they might not know what's going on.

Of course, I've just never heard anyone colloquially say "hook and loop" before. Only companies trying to avoid trouble.
