I'm not going to fault you for not knowing, but if you want to have any influence with others, or even if you'd like to communicate with them in an effective way, never include the sentence "I am here to educate you". People automatically tune out condescension.

This really isn't the whole story. You do not have to be severely overweight to develop type 2 diabetes. Your macronutrients are what cause it. I know plenty of older men (50s and 60s) who are relatively thin and they all have type 2 diabetes. The common factor is heavy carbohydrate (and particularly sugar) consumption. Years of bad diet, even if it doesn't exceed recommended calorie limits, will cause insulin resistance. That's just science.

However, physical activity will usually severely blunt the effect of heavy carb consumption because most people aren't in ketosis, and so if you exercise regularly (and aren't eating only carbs and fat), the metabolic processes your body goes through will level you out fairly well. But as soon as you stop being active, heavy carb intake (and especially sugar) will promote insulin resistance. And that leads to diabetes.

really hoping there is no/little protein in the apple sugar topping because I scrape the entire thing off and just eat the other portion. Good deal and more sugar conscious if you do that.

Not the most healthiest bars but hey 400 calories and 31 grams of protein for a guy who does not have time for breakfast in the morning, why not?\

Plus what other bar out there has calories or protein that match or exceed Met-rx bars.

Without googling, how do you think a person develops type 2 diabetes? Hint - It's not sugar.

I'm not going to fault you for not knowing but most Americans seems to think sugar causes diabetes. I'm going to have to assume you and most others seems to think this way because diabetes has the whole "blood sugar" thing in its description. But I am here to educate you that sugar isn't the cause of type 2 diabetes. It's the sedentary lifestyle with being severely overweight. Sure you can link overweight with sugar but the same could be said with a low sugar but extremely calorie dense diet.

Given that I have a major sweet tooth and do not have type 2 diabetes which is the one you and seemingly most others believes is caused by sugar… Here's my current physique, at least my back that I just took the other day. Also here's a screenshot of the most recent sugary items I bought as proof I have that I actually consume sugar food.

With that said, I would not get this. If I wanted something with lots of sugar, I want to enjoy it. Since I never enjoy protein bars, the sugar taste would be wasted for me here.

Hm, ok let's just not talk about that large Dunkin iced coffee that's only a teeny bit sweet *cough50grams*, or a 20oz Mt Dew with a whopping SEVENTY SEVEN g's of sugar (and zero protein btw). It's all relative.

I bought these before.. a couple things.

These are meal replacement bars.... 400 calories.
These bars are BIG, think king size snickers

These are great for people needing calories.

And taste pretty decent also.

I toss 1-2 into my day sack when traveling abroad. No food avail, or affordable, eat a bar.. done.
