This is hackable when you add the items separately.

$138.73 for the drill combo

$90.27 for the rachet

Funny, I was trying to decide which local Home Depots I'd like to pick this up from when I saw that one of them, in College Point, Queens, NY, was just a stone's throw from a Milwaukee HQ. Does anyone know if this is a regional office or their main HQ, and if there's any reason for a customer to go there other than maybe repairs, e.g. clearance or sale items? I could use a hood or two for some tools.

Reading the Google reviews for this place, a lot of unhappy customers, poor service, not open, warranties not honored, etc. Is that typical for Milwaukee and what I can expect if my tools ever need service, or is this more of an outer borough NYC thing? Yeah, folks here tend to be rude and indifferent and the behavior you see on all those TV shows is not that off the mark, especially police procedurals. Been living here most of my life so I think I'd know.

Btw right around the corner from the NYPD police academy, FWIW, and a bunch of cement factories where they make those special "shoes" for use in nearby Flushing Bay.

Has anyone had experience checking out w/ PayPal, and then returning in store?

I went thru multiple drills before I got one without a wobbly chuck. Worth checking as soon as you get it.

Worked for me.

Ordered the combo for "in-store", and added the ratchet for shipping.
After order was placed, I cancelled the ratchet, and my total was $138.73 before tax.

So I just bit, got the $90 ratchet as the "free" tool, ordered the base kit for local pickup and the ratchet for shipping, waited a couple of minutes for the purchase to show up in my history, then immediately cancelled the ratchet. Total came out to just over $151 after tax. I used my Chase Flex card via PayPal, for cashback points. I hope to pick up the kit later today. I don't really NEED these tools but my brushed versions are so-so and I can use the extra batteries.

I won't use it though, not right away at least. I'm hoping for the $98 deal if it ever shows up again, with the base kit at $179 instead of $229. I have 90 days. If it doesn't reappear, I'll have to decide whether to keep this or return it in hopes that the better deal shows up eventually. I view this as price "insurance". Not the ideal deal but a decent one nonetheless. I won't really need either tool till the spring anyway.

And, honestly, although some poo-poo it here, if I do end up using them, and the better deal comes up before 90 days, I can always buy that and return it under the first invoice and pocket the $40 savings. They don't track product S/N's on invoices and orders so they won't have any way of knowing which kit came with which order. They're the exact same kit except for the tool S/N's and the returned kit will be 100% unopened and unused. No one would be scammed, cheated or ripped off. It's basically a DIY price adjustment and for all I know if I call them they might do it over the phone w/o my having to do this.

It is not inflation...corporate profits are not hurting like the rest of us...this is price gouging.

I got the Fuel Impact Driver,Fuel Hammer Drill, Fuel 3/8" Stubby, 2.0, 4.0, charger and bag for $359 plus free right hand drill. Price was $99. The kit adjusted to $281 and right hand drill to $77. I'm hopin to hack the right hand drill..I set it for pickup. Either gonna 7 day it and let it auto cancel or pick it up then just return it? So far they havent charged my card for it.

I actually had a $50 gift card so if I can rid the right hand drill...i'll have got the kit for $254 including tax. Not bad considering I think these prices are accounting for inflation .
I don't think they charge unless it gets picked up

EDIT: Oh I didn't realize people were able to change their order and cancel part of the order for the hack. I thought it saved me a trip.

I got lucky and the hammer drill set was OOS after I placed my order, so HD refunded me for it and I got the ratchet for $90+tax without having to "hack" it myself.

I ordered yesterday for home delivery and just received it. The model number on the receipt is Model # 2598-22-2457-20 and it shows one price only. Not sure you can 'hack' if shipped to home.

I clicked the link on the combo page which gave me one item on the invoice. If you add the two items (combo, ratchet) separately they do show separately on the cart page. I needed both so no issues for me.

Remove the battery from the tools is a big pain. Wouldn't recommend the M12 tools.

You'd get a better deal with the ratchet, the 3-tool kit comes to $253.70, much better than the $281. It's.best to hack with the most expensive tool, that way when you don't pick it up, you get a greater discount on the ones you're keeping.. The ratchet is $149, but adjusts to $101, better than the $77 you're going for

YMMV, but PayPal returns will typically result just store credit.

I've an older M18 non-fuel, non-impact drill driver and matching low-end non-fuel 1/4" impact... these going to out-perform them or come close? Not too worried about "all-day" battery capacity if performance is similar... but really like the idea of smaller/lighter and getting a new tool that'll be under warranty. Thanks!

Can you keep hacking the combo to get the discounted free tool?
