This is hackable when you add the items separately.

$138.73 for the drill combo

$90.27 for the rachet

Picked up the drill/driver kit. Box was a bit banged up but everything looked good inside. I sense a new round of hackable deals coming.

Worked for me.

Ordered the combo for "in-store", and added the ratchet for shipping.
After order was placed, I cancelled the ratchet, and my total was $138.73 before tax.
Tried this too and about 30mins after cancelling the ratchet they cancelled the drill.

Do you think maybe the manager in your area already knows about this hack? It worked for me, I just made sure drill/impact kit was "pick up in store" and ratchet as "ship to home"

I ordered the drill combo w/ stubby impact a wrench for pickup then did the extra discounted ratchet for delivery. The stubby deal comes to 253. But one thing it won't let me cancel the ratchet. Not sure if you have to wait longer or what. It only gives me the option to cancel the whole thing.

Perhaps they're finally closing this loophole. I can't believe they let it go on till now. It's almost like when Sears kept offering all these crazy cashback promos. I saved so much on tools with those, which ended right around the time I ran out of Sears tools I could use. Hopefully this won't end quite yet. I still have one more tool I'd like to get.

First time attempting the hack here. Can someone tell me if I did the right strategy? I got the $254 drill, driver, and stubby combo shipped to home and had the $90 ratchet shipped to store. I plan on letting the $90 ratchet expire by not picking it up. This should work, correct? Any other tips or suggestions?

I was able to do the hack by chatting to customer service.

Order the drill for pick-up and the ratchet as shipping. Told customer service i want to cancel the ratchet and they were able to do so. Total came out to 138.73 after tax.

These combos were usually at $200. I guess inflation kicked in. Still a good deal for me to grab a rotary.
Pretty sure it was $230 even a couple of years ago...

Has anyone had experience checking out w/ PayPal, and then returning in store?
I've done this. The return just goes back on your paypal and how you originally funded it (ie if you used a credit card, paypal refunds your credit card).

It still works when you add the items individually from their unique link.

I'm pretty sure that I did it from the base kit page where I selected the extra tool. It automatically added each to my cart as separate items, so I was able to cancel the extra tool after I placed the order. I didn't have to add them from their own page. In fact I just tried this and it still worked, so I'm not sure what they did wrong or why it didn't work for them. In any case it still works, folks, so take advantage while you still can.

People have been saying it for years, and we all know HD has eyes everywhere so they know about the hack. It's not going away anytime soon IMO because they can still profit while moving way more units than Lowe's because they don't itemized each item for these tool deals like HD.

Not sure if that 3/8 impact wrench will be useful when working on cars. I own a 1/2 Fuel M12 right angle impact wrench and when I can access a bolt or a nut it removes 19 mm nuts fine. Rated for 220 lbs*ft but I did not test it on lug nuts or axle nuts but it worked everywhere else including bolts that hold a frame to a chasis. This 3/8 impact wrench might be a disappointment if you want to break bolts or nuts loose.
