12th gen link, but coupon does not work. The 12th gen also has new case design with more airflow and 16GB DDR5. I would personally upgrade to the 750w power supply for $49.

https://www.dell.com/en-us/member...8950adl30h
The newer Dell XPS models with 12th gen processors have LHR graphics cards (which are throttled when used for cryptocurrency mining), Not an issue if you're just doing gaming and graphics, but definitely impacts value if you're planning to pull and resell the GPU card.

The 750 watt power supply is not available for the Dells with 11th gen, but if you do go for a 12th gen, I agree that the larger power supply is worth getting even if you don't think you need it.

And if you do buy the 11th gen on sale here and want to add aftermarket RAM, be careful what you choose as most higher speed RAM (e.g. 3200MHz) will only run at 2666 or 2333 in these machines. To have additional RAM that runs at same 2933 speed as the stock RAM, it must be rated to run at 1.2V. (Most newer DDR4 RAM is specified at 1.5V.) A couple of known compatible RAMs are Crucial CR16G4DFR32A (1x16GB) and CT2K8G4DFRA32A (2x8GB).

Also, if you want to upgrade the stock CPU cooler that comes with the 11th gen, the ARCTIC Freezer i13 X is an easy plug-and-play upgrade. (Even comes with thermal paste pre-applied.)
Id be super careful if that's your goal. Used market is becoming over saturated and prices are going down. A good true of thumb when miners are your expected audience is to not expect them to pay more than the profits of 1 year of mining maximum. Right now I think that's about $500 at current rates. Don't expect more than that unless you can sell it very soon.

Always kind of wonder in terms of prebuilts from like dell and others along that same line what brand of video card they put in, or is it something dell makes as their own and throws that in there so its like a pure vanilla video card.

Kinda want to build a cheap farm out of rigs like this but i see theres some preventative stuff that makes it so you cant. Shame :/

Dell, HP and Lenovo have their own versions of GPUs. They're made by Foxconn or PNY or similar. Unbranded. They work the same as a AIB card, they just look different and less flashy/RGB.

Even with the amex $120 discount, this is a ripoff. Mid range CPU by today's standards and even then it is heavily weighed down by only having single-channel ram. If you're just buying it for the GPU know that it is bottom-tier for a 3060 and as basic as Nvidia will allow within spec. Pair all that with terrible airflow in the case and Dell's worthless customer service.

I don't know of a single report of someone who's gotten a V1 3060 in the past 8 months. I personally ordered two HPs with 3060s, and a friend got a Dell with one. All V2.
Zero reports/proof of V1 versions. Plus, why would there be any? The V1 versions were available for such a brief time last summer, it's not like Dell has been sitting on thousands, when we already know Nvidia was quick to plug that hole right after than first batch. A loooong time ago.

FWIW, I just bought two Dell XPS 8940s with confirmed non-LHR 3060 TIs in December (the $1299.99 deal posted on here). But I'll agree it was probably old stock, and they wanted them gone. Lucky, I know.

I am looking to buy a gaming desktop. The main criteria are that it's relatively easy to put in more RAM (I have trouble navigating in tight spaces) and that it has Thunderbolt 4. Does anyone know the relative ease of maintainability of this particular chassis, and if it has Thunderbolt 4? Thanks.

Honestly if you plan on selling the GPU I would. It's ridiculous they crippled that mobo and it only has a 400w psu so really not much headroom at all. I am returning the Lenovo but gonna hold out for a bit higher end GPU. I'm hoping for a 3060ti or better for 1299 again.
I am going to Skip the 8940 and wait for 8950 as this one appears to only have 1 M.2 NVme slot thats 3rd gen ? I believe the 8950 has 2 both 4th gen.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Not sure if this is accurate but in the last 3 months it appears miners are able to overclock the V2s pretty drastically (roughly 73%). I've only watched a few YouTube videos where they adjust the settings and record the output.

If you are not a miner and don't have serious gaming, get one of those XPS8940 off ebay for about 600 dollars. Get a GPU when the pricing start to cool off, which is not too distant in the horizon.

So you would be ok with Amazon having specials deals for certain zip codes. And having the other customers pay full price. Ok.
It should just be a reality, if some neighborhoods got rid of their police and have emptied their prisons so there is free reign for package theft they should be charged more.

Taxes and physical costs are local.

You'd be correct. I can get my LHR (V2) 3060s to 35-36MH/s for ETH.
But this is still only about $1/day.

I don't know of any OEM (Dell, HP, Lenovo) that makes a pre-built with Thunderbolt 4. The motherboards they use typically don't support the architecture needed for TB, nor do these OEMs go through the TB certification/licensing required for such a low-volume product.

What is the difference between this desktop RTX 3060 and the laptop RTX 3060?

I wish I would have bought a LOT more of those 3060TIs from Costco. The two I got are hands down the best pre-built miners I own. Efficient, quiet, and require the least babysitting. Wish I could say the same for my 1660 Supers and 3090s...

If anyone wants an almost new 3090 Omen pre-built, I'll gladly trade one for two of those Costco 3060TI builds (I may even throw a little cash/crypto in too). I'd lose money, but it's worth it to me to not babysit the temps so much. No more 3090s for this guy.

Or I'll trade two 1660 Super builds for one 3060TI build. Maybe a little cash there too...
My Costco has them back in stock in the original config for $1699. They might be available in your area.
