Do they integrate into the online banking to download transactions? This software is utter garbage and hasn't been updated in 15 years but nothing compares to help me manage my rentals, investments, budgets.. I've tried the open source , mint etc.. they're not as good.. even the support is horrible. I hate supporting this company.
To answer the (inevitable) questions - see https://www.quicken.com/support/q...rship-faqs

Notably:

How long can I extend my membership plan?
A membership can only be extended in the last six months of a subscription term. Therefore, multiple terms cannot be purchased and used at once to extend a membership. Retail purchases: Activation codes expire 24 months after being generated.
I disagree. Ever since Intuit sold it, the software improved. Quicken (Premier) works better now than when Intuit owned it and actually gets new features on occasions. You can tell they likely follow the Agile/Scrum method of product development, which is good for consumers.

Did anyone make the switch from Quicken to Money for Excel? I have been using Quicken since 2006 and I do not like that when it connects pulls my investments, it is always off. I contact them and they told me I will need to remove the financial companies and re-add since I downgraded from Premier to Delux. That is such BS....my licenses expire 3/15 ...looking for an alternate software because Quicken is not what they used to be.

I am a long time quicken user. It is surprisingly love and hate relationship. Last week, I received an email survey request from quicken and noticed that quicken wants to gauge user sentiment for monthly subscription model anywhere from $3-$10/month depending on features you choose. Not sure if it will be exciting option or turn-off many quicken users!

I bought a code from Office Depot on 5/5/2020 (that I was alerted to from Slick). I saved it until last week (because I had some other codes), and when I tried to enter it, it said it was expired, even though it had been less than 24 months. I started a chat session with Quicken support to ask what the problem was, and they said the code was expired even though their own records confirmed it had been less than 24 months:

Valid Window Start Date:4/1/2020
Valid Window End Date:1/1/2022

They said I should go back to where I purchased it (even though I included the link from Quicken's own website that said retail versions are supposed to be good for 24 months, and it hasn't been 24 months), or maybe request a refund from quicken (which I did...no response...not even an email confirming I had submitted a ticket...truly awful customer service).
Try chatting with another person. You could try to load it under another name vs doing it as a renewal. I've found that their end date and information that they give isn't always accurate. Put on another computer and use another name etc then back up all your data and load it. You can always put it back on the main computer later. You cannot have 2 Quickens (even if different versions on the same computer)

I've been a Quicken user for a long time. Started out in the early 80's. This is the first time I have NOT renewed/purchased a new one. I've been on Home and Business and right now just not worth the yearly fee. It was nice downloading and being able to put it into categories. Works great for finding slips for returns etc. At least you would know what month the receipt was in. Kind of missing it now but still not ready to jump on it. Will probably downgrade to Quicken Deluxe and hope that you can have different files. Right now I have 2 different files because the file had so many years in it and too much data. I could also change categories as my business adventures changed without messing the previous years up. Now What to do lol. Can someone verify that Deluxe will allow you to have different files like the Home and Business? I'm thinking this price might go down a little after tax season. Who knows. BTW I've purchased Quicken from Newegg, OD, Staples with no challenges but that was before they started these special prices for "new" people (screw the faithful customers--lets make it more expensive for them).

I have also let my subscription lapse for at least 3 months then renewed it (bought a new one) and updated it and was able to download Most of the previous 3 months transactions. It's up to your bank and how they handle the downloading of transactions. This will give you 15 months on a subscription if you don't need it every month.

I downgraded from Home and Business to Deluxe when the subscription model came in and had no problems doing it. It is not like you cannot just make categories for business expenses in Deluxe. I had kept my business and personal transactions in the same file and continue to do so but yes you can have as many files as you like. I don't think having separate files really works that well as it really limits you when it comes to transfers from accounts. Having them separate has you having to enter a transfer out to nowhere form the business side and a transfer in from nowhere over in the personal file. You also lose the ability to get a good overall look at your financial situation.

I got an email from Quicken from my refund request a couple of days ago, where I explained my situation. It sounds like they are going to fix it. Here are the contents (I x'd out my ticket #):

Hello there,

We do apologize the code you purchased did not work for you. For us to be able to provide you a new code please reach out to our support team. You can reach out to our support ream via phone or chat.

Thank you

I'd like to get some opinions. This is a physical copy CD with code in the box for activation. Their rule is that codes expire 24 months after purchase if you don't use them. But how do they know when the box was purchased? Of course they don't know this. So can I buy a few years worth of physical copies and renew my subscription annually?

They know it by the code. If I remember correctly you can only renew when withing 6 months of expiring.

Thank you. I know you have to have less than 6 months left to renew. But let's say they know when the code was printed on the box, the box sits on a shelf for 1 year. I buy box with CD. How can they know when it was purchased? How do they know when to make a code invalid, as it could have been sitting on the shelf of a small retailer for a long time.. I wonder if the code inside a box expires at all? (In contrast to the downloadable product)

It is from when the code is generated which would mean that you could get a code that does not go two years from purchase.

Thank you Don. Wow, that seems like a problematic policy. So if the box sits on the retailer's shelf for 1.5 years and the customer doesn't activate it until 6-ish months after purchase, it won't work and be useless. Incredible. I'm sure I could open a shrink-wrapped MS Office 2013 CD today and it would activate fine.
