Well, it was a cold December morning, and we needed to take both of our children to the dentist before school, and we were both low on gas. We stopped by a Kroger Fuel Station around 7:00 am and there were no other customers there. We parked our cars on either side of the pump, and I started fueling my wife's car. There was an old man walking by, lining the trash cans, and he stopped at my fuel pump and was just staring at me. Even our daughter was in the car and felt uncomfortable. Suddenly the man says to me, "You can't do that." I ask him what he's talking about, and he says that I cannot use the same pump handle for both cars, that it stretches the fuel hose too much. Keep in mind that having the cars on both sides of the pump, I'm not stretching the hose at all. So I tell the guy I've been doing this for years and never had a problem. He yells at me, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! YOU NEED TO STOP OR I'LL SHUT OFF THE PUMP!" So I take out the fuel dispenser from my wife's car and ask if she can pull in behind me so we fuel on a single side. He then changes the story and says it's one transaction per vehicle. I then ask him if I can at least fill up my car, and again he yells, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" So at this point, I really feel like he doesn't want me there, so I hang up the fuel hose and end the transaction. It really hurt because I only got about $5 in my wife's car, and nothing for me, and I spent 1,000 points for those $5. I got a little bit of gas somewhere else to get by, and later that day I called Kroger customer service. Before I did that, I looked up the terms and conditions of the fuel program and couldn't find anything that I did that was violating those terms. I told customer service my story and asked if I did anything wrong. The guy I spoke to put me on hold to ask his team, and he came back and said that the fuel program was one transaction per vehicle. I mentioned I didn't see that in the terms and conditions and he had no answer. I also asked him what if I brought gas cans with me, if I could fill up my car and the gas cans in one transaction, and he said he wasn't sure. It really seemed like he wasn't interested in giving me a straight answer. I then asked if he could refund me the 1,000 points since the old man cut off my transaction and he did do that at least and apologized for my experience.
Since then I never went back there, and have done the double-car fill up 3 more times at other locations and never had a problem. What do you guys think? Did I do something wrong?
Oh, by the way, I looked up the location of this Kroger Fuel Center to pass it along to customer service, and on Google Maps I immediately started seeing bad reviews about the old man, lol! The best one was a person who tried to take a picture of the station from a distance, to leave a POSITIVE review, and the old man came out and told the customer to not take pictures and get off the property, so that positive review turned into a negative one. So the old man is definitely a psycho. It just sucks that my family had to go through that experience.
Thanks for reading this long post!
I have four 5 gallon gas cans I bring along to get me to my $35 savings.

It doesn't mention anything other than 2X fuel points there, nothing abut 4X fuel points.

The only thing you had going for you is if the station pumps didn't have a notice that said no double pumping. I would have told the guy that clearly has mental issues, to get a manager out to the station. Explain the situation, show the pumps didn't have a no double pump notice. Ask since you already used your points to make a one time exception, let you double pump. The employee would probably throw a tantrum about it but that's what I would have done and explain to the manager/employee that you must post a notice of no double pumping so customers know not to use fuel points that you can't get back.

your link look the same but that's the one I use. I got 4x on January 6 and January 11. I'm sure there's a chance that they suspended the 4x for activating online. But I just looked to verifiy that I did get 4x on those purchase dates. You enter the UPC of the barcode on the card (like on the packaging). Then you usually enter the long number on the physical card. Next time I buy a card I will report back here on whether it is still 4x or is now only 2x.

What you probably found was a grumpy old dude who is still trying to enforce the old rules. I caught hell a few times and started using red cans, which they had no problem with (but is likely more of a safety concern especially when you're filling them on a truck tailgate vs. the ground).. I actually never went back to trying to coordinate the multi-vehicle fill-up, since it typically was more hassle to drive both vehicles at the same time, when they were both low to maximize my 35 gallons. I scoured FB marketplace for 'blitz' red cans, put vents in them and now use these to hit my 35 gallons.. then bring them home and top off my wife's car when it's low.
btw - i'm still jealous of states like TN, etc that allow for more than a $1/gallon discount.
