I'm going to wait longer, these speeds are about 60% of what the PS5 calls for. If you don't need one, I would wait.

I think it will work as it will detect it as gen4. The only problem is that it has lower than recommended R/W speed for the ps5. There was one at Bestbuy I looked at, similar situation, but slightly higher R/W speed than this, so the reviews said it worked.

Just because its Gen4 doesn't mean its gonna work in coming years on PS5 they could update firmware so these slow drives don't work since 5,500MB/s or faster is recommended currently. This drive can't even hit 4,000MB/s

i bought the 500gb version from the amazon deal a couple days ago, works in the PS5, the PS5 does give a warning that 'some games might be choppy blah blah blah' but it works fine.

The Samsung has DRAM and faster sequential write and random read speeds. WD is Gen 4 vs gen 3 for the Samsung, so the WD is better used for PS5 gaming (as you couldn't tell from a lot of the comments here), though it still doesn't meet Sony's speed requirements. Both are TCL though.

Do newer laptops have multiple M.2 slots? Or do they often still have hard drive bays for like SATA HDDs? I'm in the market for a new laptop and just wondering if the included storage SSD storage capacity is expandable. I know in some cases it can be upgraded by swapping out. But I'm specifically wondering if they have extra empty slots these days. Been a few years since I bought a laptop.
