If you use Gmail, many (but not all) sites will let you use Gmail's "plus sign" feature so you don't have to use a different email address. Use "[email protected]" for the address - everything from the plus sign to the at symbol gets ignored by Gmail (it delivers to "[email protected]"), but it looks like a different address to the site and you can filter on it in your mailbox. I'll usually use the site and date after the plus (something like "WestDigi20220205").

Not buying so don't know if this works here, but it's handy to know about.

4" is the drive dimension, but they're still 3.5" form factor. I believe 3.5" references the size of the platters in the drive.

On the subject of these drives though, at 7200rpm enterprise drives they're probably somewhat loud, and reviews seem to confirm that. They're intended to be in racks in a server farm where you won't hear them over the din of fans running. If you're buying these for a NAS, I'd only do that if your NAS is somewhere you can't hear it.

WD spec page also has a few words.
He does have a point - SAS is the better interface.

However, the hardware that usually runs SAS is typically more power hungry produces additional heat and requires more ventilation.

Can I buy this drive and SWAP it into MyBook 6TB drive?
NO! dont do it! thermals on your Mybook drive are way lower since it spins slower. this will heat up fast in the enclosure if it doesnt have active cooling.

Is it more performative? Sure. Is that the metric every datacenter uses for purchasing decisions? No. Backblaze uses 100,000 SATA drives. [backblaze.com] I cite them because their transparency reports explain why.

Back to the original point - theses are datacenter drives. Shocked anyone would try to contest that due to an interface option.

So this requires a new account for the additional 10% off? What if you already have an account?

Interesting, I created an account and got the 10% coupon email but during checkout it says it has already been redeemed. I created other accounts and I'm no longer getting the 10% coupon email, is anybody else seeing this?
Same, I wonder if it is an adblocker issue. I disabled mine for the site in the middle of the process.

MEH, LTT doesn't even bother with SAS.

Just signed up. Got an email that I am registered but no 10% off coupon. Tried another email address and that worked. Maybe I had an old registration there.
