Ha! Haven't had time to game lately. The hardest it has worked was running dual monitor with some spreadsheets and browser. It didn't die while running either. It just wouldn't boot anymore. Swapped back to my old card and it works fine again.

I'd disagree with the term "aficionados." A true computer aficionado would understand that a SSD has a time and place and so does an old fashioned spinning disk. A 512GB SSD is more than enough room to handle dozens of installed video games and and other software, the 1TB drive is for data storage where a SSD would mostly go underutilized.

These people are pseudo-aficionados and just plain high maintenance Wink

Just going to "think out loud" here to see if you're right. Let's assume one has a local Microcenter for the best price on the 5600G and motherboard....

$5600G - $200
cheapest board with built-in WiFi - $70 after $20 bundle discount
16GB decently fast DDR4 - $65
512GB NVMe SSD - $50
1TB HDD - $35
Case/PSU/Keyboard/Mouse - $100ish

That's $520 and you haven't bought Windows yet. Pricing Windows in a post like this is always provocative so I will just point out...

Buying Windows retail is expensive, MSRP is $140 for Home and $200 for Pro.
One can permanently activate Windows with a grey-market key bought (much more cheaply) from a third party, but this is in violation of the license agreement (for those that care).
There are ways to pirate Windows.
One can use Windows indefinitely without activating, only needing to tolerate a few minor annoyances.

Lastly, pre-built doesn't need to be built, but on-the-other-hand, the custom route won't leave you stuck with anything proprietary.

I bought one of these with a similar setup. My impressions is that it's a good computer for light/mod gaming. The benefit is that you don't need to put something together, it just works. Some bloatware, but not a lot surprisingly.

Now for the details:
1. The case is really terrible, both for airflow, as well as for space. There is a 3.5 drive slot, which was open for the computer I got. Not sure if it'll be open with the 1TB HDD in there.
2. Something I've never seen before, the PSU plugs into the mobo, and then the power for the SATA then comes out of the mobo. This makes the PSU/mobo proprietary.
3. The ram in my setup was two 8gb sticks. Runs dual channel mode. No heat sinks.
4. The CPU cooler is really barebones.
5. The video card I got in mine (3060 ti) is a single fan version. I'm guessing it's some sort of OEM.

Again, overall, this is a nice computer for someone who doesn't want to deal with building.

It really depends on what game you're playing. AAA Games are easily crossing that 90-100GB size mark.

I have a modded Skyrim folder that already exceeds 400GB lol.

I soon start replacing 512GB drives with 2GB ones soon. Even 1 TB is starting to feel small.

Just a heads up, these graphics cards are HP manufactured — I recently purchased 6x HP desktops with RTX 3060 cards and wasn't impressed with the heat-sink or fans. I've attempted to overclock 2 of them and the thermals werent great. Nothing scientific to back that up, just that they dropped off my HiveOS rigs for extended periods of time. With that said, the other 4 have been okay at stock speeds.

Is it worth it to buy now or wait for a better deal since GPUs are starting to become more available? Pretty casual gamer here so I don't plan on upgrading/modding, just want to get the best deal without overpaying with the GPU market.
