They leak just the optimum amount to destroy the device/item they're installed in; not more not less than needed…. optimum

It's very simple and awesome! Just buy two packs of batteries and you'll get all of the cost back (less tax) as a reward for future purchases at Office Depot. If your not a rewards member become one first. The rewards post within days and are usable for a couple of months. These are the leakiest batteries I've ever used. I purchased a bunch of these at Homedepot last year and almost all of them leaked before I even took them out of their packages. I ended up throwing away at least ten 4 packs cuz I didn't want them to destroy any of my devices.

It took a bit of back and forth with them, but I received the MSRP ($300) for my Canon flash that was destroyed by their leaky batteries through their online claim process.
