I was beyond annoyed though when I went to watch it the other day and found out they removed all commentaries from these versions :/

Edit: Also, note about the digital versions. They are one code for ALL movies. So the digital code that comes in the box for LOTR redeems 6 films (3 theatrical, 3 extended). They do redeem and show up on my apple tv as 4k dolby vision and also in movies anywhere as 4k dolby vision. https://imgur.com/a/m7vsJGw

Really a must own! Sound and image is amazing. I have atoms and hdr and this really looked good. It's worth the money for the experience.

There is also a coupon going on the Hobbit that brings it down to $50. OP for that deal doesn't have the coupon listed in the price. YMMV on coupons though

Still waiting on each trilogy to drop to $15 to bite even if it takes a few years. Paid a good chunk of money on the DVD extended editions and then again for Blu-Ray + digital HD, not to mention money spent watching in theaters. As decent as the quality is for 4K, it's absurd what they're charging for these movies and what constitutes a "sale" on them. To each their own I guess.

Does the changes show if I just watch it in regular blue ray, or is this just for 4k?

The box doesn't show Blu Ray as being included.

As much as I agree these are great reference transfers I kinda have to agree with you.

To make the advantage worthwhile you should have the proper quality equipment especially on the AQ side.

With a good player BD is still reference material.

No 1080p bluray included - only 4k bluray. I believe these are the 1080p versions but don't quote me on that. Also, no clue why the remaster for the standard bluray includes the behind the scenes and commentaries but the 4k remaster don't include them. https://www.amazon.com/Picture-Tr...B09CGMTF6R

They're in both my Apple TV library and movies anywhere as dolby vision 4k files. It's one code that gives 3 theatrical AND 3 extended lotr/hobbit movies so you can't sell the theatrical if you only want the digital extended. https://imgur.com/a/m7vsJGw

I know it's a good deal for the set, but this should be the price for LOTR and the Hobbit together.

I bought it at $100 during quarantine and it was still worth it at that price

Bought it for $65 two days ago but I'm not mad. On an LG OLED HDR and a shitty 5.1 setup it looks and sounds phenomenal. Can't imagine how good it would be with legit atmos and stuff. No regrets, especially with the codes.
