8TB drives often go on sale for $120 or lower.

often, but not lately. when's the last time we saw $120? almost a year ago? $150 is still high. OP might get some love it we see $130 soon again. of course, $120 would be great. A lot of us scored the 14TB deals a couple of months ago.

A quick search shows the last $120 deal was posted on 11/19. The last $130 deal was posted on 1/25.

now I'm very interested. .we must be doing different searches. can you link to the threads for these? I searched for "8TB easystore" on SD and the last time it was in this range was in my links below. I'm not saying you are incorrect. I want to see the posts so I can improve my search on this stuff in case < $120 comes around again. I'll provide my links below. Thank you.

it's been a while for a WD to get there. iirc some seagates were there early last year.

I wrote that 8TB drives go on sale for $120, not specifically Easystore ones and that's why this thread's getting downvotes. Just search for "8TB".

Costco routinely has 8TB Seagate drives on sale for $120. Better deals than that would occasionally pop up before the pandemic.

A week ago, the drives were $130 however. https://slickdeals.net/f/15587038-costco-members-8tb-seagate-backup-plus-hub-external-hard-drive-129-99

If you specifically want a WD drive, that was on sale for $140 just two weeks ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/15577822-western-digital-external-hard-drive-8tb-139-99-at-costco

folks who want this probably want a CMR drive inside.

ok, it makes sense now. the vast majority looking at "Easystore" drives want to use them in NAS setups. Hence, you do NOT want SMR drives.. you want CMR drives. there are so many past threads that talk about this. or you can google SMR vs CMR, etc.
