This is a good deal if you have an immediate need, which I don't. I will wait for the 17% off gift cards that Chewy offers on Saint Patricks day every year.
Dang Slickdeals!!!! I keep spending money! Thank you for posting this. My gift cards are almost used up from the last deal and the pups need more food.

What's with all the cat food shortages. Can't find Friskies wet food anywhere.
Fun with supply chains I guess? Chewy hasn't had my one cat's wet food flavor for months (fancy feast medleys) so I stock up from Amazon when I see it there. They don't always have it either. Ugh. Love Chewy, would rather spend $ there, but I can't if they don't have the food I need.

I'll just use the $20 bonus on an order for an animal rescue when March 1 comes around.
20% is 20%.
I've never used gift cards at Chewy but from what I'm reading in the comments in seems like of you have a gift card loaded into your account and you have auto ship it will use the gift card for the auto ship order and then your credit card on file of the GC is not enough.
Anyone know if this is the same for the $20 bonus card they're offering here? I know the window to use it is small but I think our auto ship is in that window, if it isn't we can move it to fit into that window.

Challenge will be this gift card cannot be used on multiple accounts in case someone has to use it for auto ship 1st order savings in multiple accounts.
usually I have few accounts to benefit from auto ship discount.
Nope you can't do that. Once you redeem the GC on your Chewy account, the entire GC amount will be loaded to that particular account and can't be shared with any other accounts.

Thanks for sharing.
Any idea if the gift card can be used across multiple accounts? For example, I use $40 of the $100 gift card on Account #1, $35 of the amount on Account #2, and $25 of the amount on Account #3.

Is the only benefit of multiple accounts for auto ship 1st order savings? So it basically is only good for a 1 time discount and then the extra account are not of any use really?
I just got an offer for buy $40 worth of stuff and get $20 gift card from chewy (promo code gift20) and now I see this, time to go shopping, I will buy $140 worth and get $40 gc
I wouldn't trust any random blog on pet food. It is true, pet food is a wild industry because the marketing is done for YOU, the human owners, and not the pets who'd happily eat trash off the ground and can't complain. But pushing for useless marketing gimmicks like "human grade" for pets is missing the point. Just because it's not "human grade" doesn't mean it's garbage. Pet food should be safe and nutritious for pets, and that's that. Dogs shouldn't eat your high sodium jerky, so why should you eat their kibble?
The quick and easy scoop to pick a safe and nutritious food for your pet is follow brands that have feeding trials, full time vet nutritionists on staff, and formulate their food based on AAFCO guidelines. Bonus points for transparency; the top 5 brands for this is IAMS, Eukanuba, Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin and Purina. This doesn't mean anything from these brands will be good. Look for the label that say they formulate their kibble according to AAFCO standards and NOT as a supplement. Avoid products with buzzwords clearly meant for humans, like "grain-free", "all-meat", "organic" etc mostly because pets don't care and you're likely getting ripped off. Particularly for "grain-free", grain allergy is pretty rare so if your pet has a grain allergy you'll know and grain is actually good for animals.
