Low price on highly rated document scanner.

Anyone know how this thing does on photos? Seems like it does a good job on photos based on what I've read so far. I just bought this instead of the Epson FastFoto due to the price drop.

This is a high end scanner, if you tend to scan documents frequently like I do (archiving, receipts/tax related etc...), this will simplify your life so much better than most other scanners. It simply works and rarely causes an error/jamming. Photo scanning is rather reasonable.
It is very good at what it does. Well worth it at this price. I bought 3 older models (S1500 and iX500 I think) for my small business and the two that I bought in 2014 are still working fine. Really fast and reliable. Rarely jams. Scan receipts and thick driver's license too. Auto two-sided detection. Can't ask for more. Service is great. Factory fixed a squeaky roller problem for free out of warranty. What the heck. Just bought one more. Thanks and repped OP!

It easily pays for itself in time saved in the right scenario. Similar models from Epson or Brother can be found a little cheaper but not a whole lot, and last I checked ( a few years ago) Fujitsu was the benchmark

Is there any reason to buy this if someone already has the ScanSnap IX500 and works perfectly fine?

Yeah I have several scanner apps, but for multipage scanning, nothing beats an actual scanner.

I am still using the iX500. I heard newer ScanSnap scanners only limit user to install the software on 1 computer only. is that true for this model?

Always wanted a document scanner for receipts & getting rid of paper documents. I've been eying this scanner as well as the Raven Scanner Original. Does anyone have experience with both of these, or have an opinion on how they compare?

you can do multipage with Genius Scan too. but for very large documents, I just use my printer scanner to scan to PDF and run OCR on it afterwords.
