Well for starters D2 doesn't mean anything. Nobody will test it, and even if they do and it is D2, who knows if it's properly heat treated. Even if it is properly heat treated D2, it likes to rust and most people can't sharpen well so : /

I'd prefer to recommend entry level users spend $25-$35 on a name brand knife with a reliable warranty and good reviews that's easy to sharpen over some generic Chinese mystery blade emblazoned with "D2". Maybe something like a Kabar Dozier in AUS8 or an Ontario Rat 2 in AUS8 (or D2 for $12 more).

There's also a double action lightning OTF for $30 that's lots of fun to use and mess around with. Generic Chinese blades are a dime a dozen. Blah.

D2 takes me always forever to sharpen. But it's well worth it because of the hardness of the steel that stays sharp considerably longer than cheaper steel.

Is it on bearings or washers? I watched the video and read the description, no info.

I had the original one. In my opinion it was crap. This one looks better but I'm afraid to pull the trigger.

Edit...what the heck. Ordered one. Free shipping. 30 day return policy. I'll report back.

Like the D2 steel but I'd bite if it was 15.

Ganzo Firebird D2 search on the e bay - I'm sure there's more, but just my two cents

I'm in for one, and excited to try it out. A couple decent brands in this price range that offer D2 are Ganzo and Petrified Fish. That'll be my point of comparison at this price point.

In one of the photos it says "caged ball bearings" assuming they'll probably be steel. That being said i would definitely not buy this knife myself, get a Ganzo, Kubey, or spend a few more bucks and you can get a QSP penguin. I have the more expensive M390 penguin but my buddy has the D2 he's pretty happy with it for $30 i'd put money the extra 6 bucks or whatever would be worth it
