I saw in reviews that this is actually majority dating sim...couldnt bring myself to buy. Action gameplay is apparently quite repetitive too.

Waifu motivator simulator. I haven't finished it yet, but so far its been a lot of talking to cute anime girls. Gotta motivate them for their stage production. Must motivate the girls, y'know?

The art and music are really much better than the actual game.

If you're a fan of the series, there are some merits to it, but overall as a long time fan, it's kinda disappointing especially how it ends imo

You are not wrong. The game series is literally a VN dating sim with INSERT_ANOTHER_GENRE horribly interspersed and paced inbetween.

The DLC is another oddity. If you want every cosmetic item, you have to buy the game twice.
Some items are only included with the physical release.
Some items are only included with the digital release.

I haven't played this one but "Sakura Wars: So Long My Love" turned out to be really good in spite of my initial skepticism. The combat/action sections were surprisingly fun and were well-balanced and evenly interspersed with the dating sim portions. I still remember some of the boss battles, years later.
