I've been using Deluxe to import 1099 and other brokerage/bank data directly for years. It also includes schedule E (CD) for those with rental income sources. I don't know whether it handles real estate depreciation.

Thanks thats what I thought.... its not directly clear on their comparison products, but thats the bogus way of how they market it so you can upgrade and buy unneeded software, such as premier.

What does "5 Free Federal E-File" mean?

Is it the same as the Disk version:

Install SW, Fill Data, Generate 1040 form?

But I have to e-file it online in the end, not have the option to print out the form and air-mail it?

just bought this and installed. Now downloading the update that says it should take about 5mins, but then I am stuck at 1% with > 45mins showing. I know it's not my internet since I have gigabit fiber lol. Anyone else having issues?

PSA - make sure you record what is plugged into your PC at the time of the installation. Since around 2019 they implemented activation code that ties to hardware configuration. I know for a fact that I have to have certain USB drives plugged in and others removed to get TT20 not ask for activation on each start.
I recently swapped my PC and was hoping I can get physical2virtual to transfer TT 19&20 . No such luck.. Damn thing asks for activation code and of course the one I had year/s ago are all used up.

You can file up to 5 federal returns (normally for different people Wink ) for free. The disk and download versions are the same in this respect. You specify payment or deposit details when you file. Yes, you can still print out your completed forms and do snail mail, but it takes a LOT longer for the IRS to process and the e-file process gives you confirmation that they received it.

Note that only the 5 Fed return e-filings are free. State return e-filings are an add-on of $19.99.

Additional state downloads (if you need to file taxes in other states on top of the one free state download it comes with) are $40. E-filing state returns is $19.99/ea.

But, yeah, it all adds up for some people.

Since I typically owe for state taxes, I just print out my state return and mail them in. No need to pay the extra $20 to eFile.
