Rtings.com rated this monitor good for gaming but listed some major negatives as well. I hate the limitations of IPS/VA LCD panels. I don't know about you all, but I don't want to pay $600+ for a monitor that will make blacks look gray when I game in a dark room. Why pay $600 for a monitor with so many limitations when I can drop a few hundred more for an OLED. When I play dark themed games like Alien Isolation or Doom I want black colors. HDR/local dimming is terrible as well on this Gigabyte and the HDMI 2.1 ports are not even full bandwidth on this Gigabyte, they are limited to 24Gbps unlike the new 4K Samsung Odyssey G7 that has 40Gbps ports.
I guess I'm gonna just have to drop $1,000 or so on a LG OLED to get what I want out of a monitor. Was considering the 48" LG C1 OLED from Costco right now for $1100 but that's too big to use as a PC monitor for me. The new 42" LG OLED is suppose to be out this year and I might have to just unload on that but OLED burn in as a computer monitor is concerning to me and 42" is still huge. Ideally, I'd like a 32"‐36" 4K monitor that can show blacks properly and has good HDR performance, supports VRR tech like freesync/gsync and doesn't have ghosting/smearing or IPS glow/backlight issues. Where art thou?

-As expected for an IPS monitor, the Gigabyte M32U has mediocre contrast, so blacks look gray in a dark room.
-Unfortunately, although the Gigabyte M32U has a local dimming feature, it's terrible. In most content, it doesn't appear to do anything. It's edge-lit, with approximately 16 dimming zones, so even when the local dimming is working, because each zone is so large, transitions are very noticeable and distracting.
-Although the Gigabyte M32U supports HDMI 2.1, like most of the other HDMI 2.1 monitors we've tested, it's limited to 24Gbps. The HDMI 2.1 inputs on the Samsung Odyssey G7 S28AG70 support more bandwidth than those on the Gigabyte, as they can support up to 40Gbps while the Gigabyte is 24 Gbps. This means that you don't need Display Stream Compression for 4k gaming at 120 fps from certain sources on the Samsung, like from the Xbox Series X.
Make sure you update firmware.
Big annoyance is they are low wattage for PD.

Agree with this completely. 144Hz 4k panels are still new to the market (relatively speaking); $600 from a B&M would be ideal.
