I will preclude this statement with I went full on obsessive when researching this set and golf clubs in general.... I can post more info if anyone wishes

These are actually Callaway X2 Hot clubs that were originally released in 2014. Callaway re-released them with a new name and color scheme for exclusive sale at Costco. These clubs were initially released at Costco several years ago as "X2 Hot+" then 1-2yrs later as "Edge" with a green color scheme and since last year "edge" with a gold color scheme. You can find the matching X2 Hot 3/4/5/AW/LW irons online. This information has been confirmed directly from Callaway by several online sources plus I called Callaway myself when I was extensively researching these last year.

A few notes on this set:
- Its rare to find these in store and regular flex steel is the only option
- These sell out quickly online (re-sellers buy out the stock to flip them for insane prices)
- Last year costco was offering to select accounts $50 off $500 online purchase, usually if you chatted with customer support they would give you the coupon as well.
- Graphite is the same as regular flex except one is steel and the other is graphite shafts (my brother owns the steel and I own the graphite... we've done comparisons)
- this set DOES NOT come in senior flex or left handed options for graphite
- If for some reason you don't like any part of this set it is very easy to sell off the items you don't want
- The putter alone is worth $100+ brand new; it is an Odyssey White Hot Pro 2 in silver vs black (which was retail color)
- The driver/3 wood/hybrid are basic but are nice
- The irons and putter are great

EDIT: for the persons asking about extending shaft lengths... you can add on shaft extenders (options for both steel and graphite) and extend the shaft up to 2" maximum (not recommended to go beyond that). Look up some videos about "regripping golf clubs" and you would need some sandpaper, golf shaft epoxy, and basic skills to extend these yourself (look up some YouTube videos from the mobileclubmaker on building clubs to get an idea how to use epoxy).... for reference in 1yr I went from never playing golf to playing multiple times a week and building golf clubs from scratch for fun as well. I do have a higher level of mechanical ability (rebuild cars for fun) but honestly, it isn't hard. Its a fun hobby to get into

EDIT 2: LOFTS
Driver: 10.5°
3 Wood: 15°
5 Hybrid: 25°
6: 26°
7: 30°
8: 34.5°
9: 39°
PW: 44°
SW: 54°

EDIT 2.5: link to callaway x2 hot iron specs mens & womens (loft/length/lie/etc)…. Heads Identical to this set (different shaft specs)

As someone who has played thousands of rounds of golf, played in state and national tournaments in college, I have used these clubs and can say they're perfectly fine for any beginner, amateur, or value golfer who doesn't need to brag about getting ripped of in a pro shop.

These clubs vs a 3000 set won't make a measurable difference in the hands of 99% of golfers.

Get these, a fancy bag, a 52 wedge, and maybe change the grips, and you'll be fine for years to come.

Generally, between regular (steel) and stiff (steel), if you swing it faster than what may be considered an average male (In other words you're athletic and a quick swing), then go stiff.

Between graphite and steel, steel is generally heavier, provides more 'feel' when hitting the ball and more commonly used, graphite is lighter and absorbs more of the impact so it's preferred by older players.

I'm 35 and in decent shape, but my personal preference is graphite since I have bad wrists.

I posted a reply a few posts back in reference to wedges.... I would complete the set with a 50 deg and a 56 deg wedge (sell off the SW that comes with the set/keep it for later on) OR just obtain a used X2 Hot "A" wedge aka attack wedge aka gap wedge. The X2 Hot A wedge is 49 degrees.

As far as bags go that is a personal taste item but if you don't mind the Pebble Beach logo the 14-way stand and 14-way cart bags on the Costco site are very good and light weight. They are actually Sun Mountain bags and ship directly from the sun mountain factory. I've used that bag for quite a while. My other bag is a Sun Mountain Maverick cart bag.
Thanks. I'll look into the wedges and bags shortly.

Looks like stiff flex is sold out. Glad I pulled the trigger this morning. I checked my order history and I purchased the women's set for my girls last year in April, and in June the matching Callaway bag was available for $159.99. If you're like me and you need everything to match, then I would recommend waiting.

Do people really not care about having the lower irons? I haven't played in nearly 20 years but I feel like a 5 iron was one of the most used clubs. It also would feel weird for me to not have a 3 iron. Plenty of instances when that club was basically essential....? Have I forgotten how golf works?

I have a C-130 Sun Mountain bag and the Costco one is almost a twin. Thanks for the info because I don't care about the logo. The Sun Mountain is going for $269 plus tax now while the Costco version is $129 plus tax. Probably going to buy and store it until I need it.

Sadly it has. Lofts on irons are a lot different than they were in the past. The golf industry pushes distance gains in irons to try to get people to buy the latest and greatest. It is increasingly rare to use longer irons. Newer players would also benefit from a hybrid over a 4 or 5 iron generally.

Most people who buys these kind of clubs are beginners and they don't need longer irons. If anything, 4H and AW might be an adequate addition to this set. X2 Hot has AW that looks just like these irons.

Also for beginners, I would not recommend tour wedges as their bounce is lower and easy to dig a hole. Workability of tour wedges are not what beginners want. Wider sole with high bounce and slightly raised leading edge is what they need. Iron type wedges are plenty good for beginners. If they improve, they can add a 56 and or a 58 to this set.

Any idea on the length for the women's clubs? My SO is only 5' tall....
Generally speaking, you should shorten them by 3/4" to 1". I suggest starting with 3/4".

Please back up that statement by providing a link to a better product at a similar price.

Don't listen to this guy. There's always those "experts" that scoff at any set that aren't blades or don't cost over $1K. That's B.S. These are fine. Y

You are spot on with your advice.

Bingo! I spent considerable time learning to hit the 2 and 3 irons and it's payoff is big. A lofted club with wind will kill you scores. The lower trajectory of the 2/3 irons will give one much more roll too. I can't imagine not having 2-5 irons in the bag. I'm senior, 14 handicap and play foothills semi-private courses to muni's and with irons one can score well with learning how to hit the fade or draw shot that will easily save you 3+ shots a game.

Here's a few game acronyms: a low and long shot with a 2 or 3 iron is often called a TBF (Texas Bug Fuc*er). Also known as the worm burner.
A high and short shot is the EA or elephant's ass that's high and stinks.

Edit: quoted the wrong person

Womens clubs are generally 1" shorter than mens clubs.

Both mens & womens Costco "edge" specs are identical to the x2 hot specs. Callaway publishes these on their pre-owned website. See the link below.

I'm unsure if I should go with steel or graphite. I have been playing steel irons for 15 years, but my swing seems to be a little slow. I purchased a taylormade RBZ Flex R driver a few years ago and it positively changed my drives significantly. I don't know if this translates into buying graphite irons. I'm a 35 year old Dad and my swing will probably continue to become slower over the next 5 years. Any wisdom you can provide for steel vs. graphite irons based on my beloved RBZ Flex R driver?

I had a scotty, I stored it in my garage and it rusted, had to send it in to be refinished. Super over rated.

I've yet to find a better value set of clubs. Modern clubs are not advancing much and the difference in 3000 dollar set and these would only be noticeable by looks. I've tried hundreds of clubs and still use an older Taylormade set of irons, a RBZ driver I got on trade, a diable 3 wood, a titleist 917 5 wood, nearly 15 year old wedges, and a putter similar to the one in this set.

I live in a golf community and their proshop has tons of used/demo clubs they let me borrow, still haven't upgraded even when they're practically giving them away.
