This definitely seems like a worse deal than the 80K mile offers (or maybe it was even higher?). It says you get the pass after spending 5K in 3 months which is relatively heavy spending....but lets say you apply and get the card in 1 week 2/18/22, then complete the spending requirements in 2 months (2.5k a month) instead of 3) earliest you would get the companion pass would be 4/18/22 and it will expire on 2/28/23 so only 10 months of use) (most likely tied to statement date or something of the like - so likely even less). The 50K difference in flights is enough to cover at least 2 RT flights and likely more. Whereas with the 80K sign up bonus if you work the way to the companion pass you end up with the remainder of the year you qualify and the following year for free companion flights and you have more miles to book with......this one is a pass
Someone can travel with you whenever you do, for free. You still pay tax on fare. The pass lasts 1y.
It's a nice deal, you have to factor in how many times you would use it in a year to calculate the saving. Often southwest tickets are cheap in first place. Meanwhile there are other non related credit cards out there with 80,000-100,000 points which I think is a better deal.
If you are a hardcore flyer on southwest, it would be a slickdeal.
Only 4 people total. Once you set your companion, you can only change it 3 times.

It's still a sweeter deal if you can get the Performance Business card along with this one. That comes with a 80,000 point bonus with $5,000 spent in the first 3 months. So that gives you 85,000 points. Then if you add the 30,000 points plus $5,000 spend for the card in this thread you're up to 120,000 points. 5,000 more and you get the companion pass through the end of 2023. I've had the companion pass for the last 6 years. Happy to help anyone out with questions.
how do you consistently get CP? do you have a lot of spending? fly frequently? or sign up for new card bonuses every other year? thanks!

Trade back and forth every two years with my wife signing up for two cards. This year was her turn. Mine will be the end of 2023 so I have it for 2024/2025.
I cancelled my SW card last June, how long does it takes for me to qualify this new promotion? Thanks
Typically as long as you're not a current cardholder of the new card you're applying for or a previous holder of that specific card who received a welcome bonus in the last 24 months then you should be good.
Dang, I just spent about $25k to get the companion pass - would have been nicer to only have to spend $5k. However, I did get a bonus 100,000 points.
I did the same thing and did feel a bit jealous seeing this post
Two good things about the old offer. 70 K extra points is worth ~$1000. Additionally the companion pass is valid till 12/31/2023.
But this is a great offer. Also the lower spend requirement for the additional bonus should make it easier to convince others to get the card and earn 20 K bonus points/referral.
It isn't easy to refer. I asked couple ppl and they started avoiding me… 🤦🏽
Definitely not easy, but probably much less effort the spending required to earn 20k points. There are other ways to find people to refer on the internet, who are not necessarily your close friends.
I just opened a Southwest card last year and traveled with my girl to many places. Can I open another one after closing it or open one under her name?
Yes, she can open one up under her name and add you as her companion. You have to wait 24 months from the time you received a signup bonus until you can receive one again.
Basically have cancelled so many of their routes it isn't worth it anymore. It was my favorite airline. Not anymore.
Not sure which routes you're looking at, but they've ADDED a bunch that I've used. Yeah, some of the nonstops have gotten hit by Covid... maybe due to fewer business travelers. But for leisure travel... I don't see it getting worse.

I had a direct flight that was changed to a two stop flight 8 hours later than the first and the only other choice that day was 12 hours long one stop. Just a little different than a 3 hours direct flight. I understand the need to cut some routes, but they cut it so bad it is 2 stops from direct. REDICULOUS!
Does anyone know if this will work if I have another SW card? It says it won't qualify if you have SW RR Credit card but doesn't specify if you get plus vs. premier if you would still qualify. Used to be counted separately when you could do 2 CC's for the 100k bonus! Thanks.

If you got the one year pass would they stack the 2 yr pass once you received the 80,000 points?
