It looks like GameStop is now offering Visa Prepaid Cards when trading in iPhone. As far as I'm aware, this is a new option compared to Store Credit or Cash, and valued higher.
From checking a few different values, they are competitive vs trading in with Apple directly and a Prepaid Visa should be usable almost anywhere.

I went there yesterday with a great condition unlocked iphone 7 and was offered a $75 Visa GC which was the amount I saw on the website a week ago. I showed them the $145 quote on the website at the store and they told me it was an error most likely. Not sure if it was true or not.
The other two phones i traded in (iphone x and iphone 7 plus) matched up to the price on their website.
They always pull that BS. even with video games, I've had them push back. Can't wait for them to go out of business lol

So what happened next?
Took a week or two for gamestop to investigate but they ended up giving me cash in the end. Honestly didn't expect that outcome and was thankful they sided with me on that. Just not going that route again, cash or gamestop gift cards from now on.
I bought an IPhone 8+ from Cricket about 1 and half year ago for $149 (Phone plus $60 service for 1 month), Changed plan to $30 immediately, with $25 referral credit, I had to purchase additional 3 months service for about $90 (with discount) to make it pass 180 days to get it unlocked. So I spent a total about $240.
I had used it on other carrier for about a year.
Yesterday, I went to GameStop and traded it and get $240 Visa Gift card.
The strange thing is, they give you $240 for IPhone 8+, but only $235 for IPhone XR.

How strict they are about carrier. I have T-Mobile iPhone 8plus and it's unlocked. They offer T-Mobile version only 160, whereas Unlocked version $240.

The clerk connected the IPhone into a computer and scanned it. He asked me what carrier it use and I told him it is unlocked. He had to click the option because the computer asked for it.
It scanned everything, like is it Jail Break or not, it run about 15 minutes and there were about dozen of tests it run through.
The clerk also physically inspected the phone. But my phone passed all tests so the computer showed $240 offer.

Careful when chosing to go this route. Scammers found a way to run them dry as soon as they are activated. Happened to me on a $225 visa. 15mins after leaving the store tried using it and it had been drained. Checked on the visa site and several samsung electronic charges had been pending just minutes after the balance was loaded.
Must be an insider job.
The card is inside a package, you can only see the serial number from outside. To see the Visa Card number, expiration date, you have to break the package.
Anyway, it is best to use it as soon as possible. I have a utility bill for about $225, so I just paid it with this $240 Visa gift card today. The remain $15 I would load it into my Amazon account.
I seriously contemplate why iPhones are accepted for such high trade-ins everywhere. I mean the resale market is obviously high for last 2 years or so models but extremely old models? I think... Apple puts something in them, maybe space metal that only they know about hidden under some plain copper coating.
They buy up these older phones to remove the extremely valuable alien space metal. GameStop etc are just middlemen for Apple, and Apple pays higher price for bulk?

I don't know if you remember back when game stop had the incident where they made a bunch of pre owned and some new switch games $10 for like 30 minutes. I ordered some stuff for in store pickup and when I went to pick it up after I payed for it they straight up refused to hand it over because corporate had said it was an error and not to sell any more copies. Mind you I had already bought the stuff and payed online because some was shipped. They wouldn't hand it over until I threatened to call the police. The then handed over it eventually but it was annoying and they tired to not give me animal crossing which was the one I wanted until I showed them the order. Shady company.

Not sure what you have been exposed to but it might be that same alien metal you're talking about OR……..
One of simple reasons would be that there's a fierce competition among android market based on how much hardware gets released almost on monthly basis, for Apple there's no such competition really since their system can be only used on their devices, it's kind of similar to why monopoly is bad for consumers but good for companies.

Which utility allows credit card payments? Pge charges over 2% for cc payment.

It is an electricity and water bill by my city. They allow us to use credit card without fee.
Usually I have a schedule for them to charged on my reward card on due date, but today I just canceled a scheduled payment and manually paid for this month's bill.

You didn't actually answer anything? How does having whatever you said, if you said anything I really can't tell, explain an iPhone 7 being bought by end consumer for say $250-300 when we're on iPhone 13?
How does it explain a newer iPhone model XR being worth less than the 8+? Maybe you can elaborate more on your non-explanation explanation.

Btw, iphone 7 is the oldest they'll accept in case you wanted to trade in an older one.
