Why not just go straight for the PS5 disc version if it's the same price?
For many, it'd still be worth $20. I love the setting and the story (not the modern story; it can eff off). Combat and exploration is good too.
Also, here's a PSA: If you have a PS4 and disk-version PS5, go for the PS4 disk version. It'll unlock a free PS5 digital copy that will be playable with the disk inside of the console.
The Season Pass began hitting discounts recently with sales, so you can potentially wait until the Season Pass discounts before you go for it. However, another thing to consider is that you can also keep an eye out for sales on the digital versions (to get game + season pass, or with additional DLC).
Also, there is a big expansion releasing in a few weeks that is $40, and features a specific character from this game.

Hated AC until I bought this for the PS5 during the last $20 sale, loved the first 10 hours or so and decided to buy it for the PC, along with Origins and Odyssey, both of those are fun as heck as well.
This game is incredible—people can say what they want about the grind, repetition, and massive open worlds that Ubisoft creates, but they make some of the most beatitudes and fun games. For $20, you'll get 100 hours of play. I also just completed Far Cry 6 at 44 hours. And if you haven't played AC Origins, I still think it's one of the best worlds ever made.
Backwards compatibility. Some folks will hold onto their PS4 when they get their PS5 (like I did). And having that option to go between consoles does save some money in the long run. And there's also a matter of space too. PS5s natively don't have a lot of storage space in them, and expanding that will be another money sink.
As someone else below said, if the Ultimate Edition goes on sale for $30 or below, I'll likely cave for it then so I can keep my disk just for PS4 or sell the disk off.
Oh, I only have a PS5. Was wondering if there was anything I would miss by not getting the PS4 version.
I felt some of the older AC titles were very repetitive in terms of tasks/quests. Basically the same quest over and over in a different area of the game. For those that have played Valhalla and previous AC titles would you say it is more of the same?

Pretty much all Ass Creed games are more of the same repetitive tasks. Or any open world game for that matter. Currently replaying AC 2 and the setting, characters, story makes up for it. Probably the best one in the series.

Exactly. If u have to have the disc in anyways, why would u want to waste storage space, on top of having a less valuable version to resale, if u wanted to when done? I don't understand the logic of buying the ps4 version when the ps5 version is the exact same price.

If u use the ps4 disc ro play a ps5 version, u will waste far more storage space, because u have to download the entire game on ps5. Also,, what's the point of playing the identical game on PS4 if u have a ps5? This makes no sense to me.
Yeah I never plan on going back to PS4, so I always opt for the PS5 version. Box art just looks cleaner.
Also, the gold edition is currently on sale for $39.99 on PSN. I would still recommend waiting if people have waited this long to wait a little longer though, as Ubisoft usually always puts the Ultimate Edition on sale for $29.99 after not too long. I got the standard disk edition for $10 a while back, and will buy the ultimate once it drops.

The only reason I would still suggest the PS4 version is if you're like me and you sell your games as soon as you're finished with them. It will be a lot easier to resell the PS4 version, since so many more people have that system.
Or you can let a friend borrow it, who doesn't have a PS5. Not that it's super hard to resell the PS5 version, I just figure you might as well make it easier on yourself. Of course, if you have no intention of reselling, it's a moot point.

Ugh… You have no idea what you're talking about. First of all, every physical game on PS5 requires you to fully install it from the disc, just like the PS4 did. Second, if you're saying that you have to install both the PS4 and PS5 version, that is also wrong. You use the PS4 disc, and just download the PS5 version from the store, and the disc acts as a key to play the game, without having to install the PS4 version. The PS5 disc doesn't take any less storage. I'm so sick of people who don't have a PS5 spreading this misinformation. I have no idea where you guys are getting this ridiculous idea from.

The upgrade takes up hdd space. If you have a ps5 and the ps5 edition is the same price get the ps5 verison imo
But if you have PS4 and PS5 both, and want to enjoy the game across both consoles, the PS4 physical version is a good idea.
