Don't be an elitist. Though obviously not the best, Ryobi are plenty good for most projects and are quite affordable.
It's a great deal for the DYIer. Go ahead and waste your money on overpriced tools you don't really need.
Then why'd you click on the deal link, chief?

This. We built a 25 x 8 foot shed / chicken coop/run with 95% Ryobi power tools. Used a non-Ryobi mitre saw, which I've had for years and still works so no need to replace it.

Seems to be the same deal as last week (and it says "available again") ? Or did anybody find any significant difference?

If you have the drill already, I'd probably go with this kit.

You're adding a 4ah battery, and the impact which are two very important pieces in my opinion. Reciprocating saw and the flashlight are just a bonus at that point.
I have an old DeWalt drill that came with two small batteries. It slips on bits when drilling into something hard. Would you still recommend this kit over the $79 one with the drill?

I can try to replace the chuck on the DeWalt to see if that fixes the slipping issue if I get the kit you linked to

Wish I could find a good deal on just the reciprocating saw. Have the other tools, and the saw is the one thing I'm really in need of post-winter
About $50-55 new, on ebay right now with minimal effort. If you take the time to set an email alert and don't need it asap, you can get it for less.

I only need the drill and see the a la carte price for the drill is same as the 3-Tool Combo Kit ($79).. I don't want to go through the hassle of reselling the tools without the battery I don't need but I guess don't have an option. Anyone have any other ideas - please share.

Everything I've read about the knockoff ryobi batteries has said that the actual capacities are far below what they claim.

I'm seeing $59 for the P215 drill by itself, or ebay has open box ones for $25-30.

It depends on if you want to build out a collection of more than just a drill for your battery powered tools. If you'll never use the other tools in the kit because you have corded versions or you just don't see the use, then I'd probably just fix the dewalt.

However, if the dewalt is your only battery powered tool and it's already old and on its way out and you want to start anew, I'd buy the kit with the drill. I personally bought the $200 brushless kit the other day, but the $70 one you're talking about it just fine to start with.

The only reason I wouldn't recommend the kit I posted in my original comment is that it only has the impact driver. That thing has a 1/4" chuck and only accepts hex bits. If you need to use a 3/8" drill bit that is round in shape, you need a regular old drill, preferably 1/2" chuck but 3/8" will do most work you'd need.

What would you recommend for someone who doesnt have majority of the parts and is very starter and not very handy?

5-Tool Combo Kit w/ 2x 1.5 Ah Batteries + 18V Charger + Bag (PCK311KN) $129
Or brushless for $199?

I would imagine brushless would be overkill for your situation. If you're not very handy, you could probably get by with just a basic drill & impact driver kit, just for hanging stuff around the house (shelves, curtain rods, hooks, etc).

Technically it's an impact driver. Not being a jerk but I've had to Google the difference a few times myself because I keep forgetting which is which.

Impact wrench - big square lug looking thing at the end, takes sockets. Usually used for automotive (lug nuts, stuck rusted bolts, etc.)
Impact driver - usually with a hex quick release. Smaller. Used for fasteners, etc.

Can buy adapters and use a wrench as driver (as long as you don't shear the crap out of the fastener) or the driver as a wrench (as long as it has enough power).

For the longest time, I didn't even know what an impact driver did. Wife is in insurance/construction, and always had subs do all house repairs etc. (for cheap or free because of her position). One day I had to ask her coworker what an impact driver was, and why not just a drill.

I slowly started to do some work here and there and picked up an impact driver. It's like a caveman who discovered fire.

Deal is dead but as someone who is just filling out their tool box, drill, impact driver, recip saw, circular saw are my favorites. Oh and I love the tiny cute blower. We have gardeners so I don't do yard work, but it's great for blowing stuff in the garage (without dust blowing everywhere) and quick cleanups outside. Oh and the tire inflator combo unit.

I'm dying for a deal on a multi-tool. And then the little toolbox shop vac for quick cleanups (and I don't need the long run time of a corded shop vac). And then a jig saw and I should be good ... for now.
