Just purchased this from Amazon for $26.99 last week. Installed a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB, M.2 2280 in it. Just using for backup. It does get warm after 30-45 minutes. There is a plastic screw for shorter drives, the spring-loaded button is for 2280. Seems to work well. Also purchased a usb c to usb a adapter. I have an old (over 10 years) laptop with usb a 2.0. The backup still works, albeit at a much lower speed. No complaints fo far.

Does anyone know if you can upgrade Samsung 980 Pro firmware using this? I'm wanting to do it to unlock full speeds before I install it in my PS5

"Not supports NVMe/PCIe M.2 M Key SSD;Before purchasing, please check your SSD label. If it prints PCIE, NVME, this enclosure will not support."

I'm wondering what will happen if you accidentally drop this enclosure on the floor??. I would really like my device fasten secured in the enclosure and protect my device inside. Tool less is nice to have. But, it's not that critical as an enclosure.

Can I use this to expand a PS5's storage, or is USB storage considered as the "slow PS4" part?

from the product page photos, it looks like the screw that normally secures the board in the enclosure is replaced by a spring-loaded button. so i'd say it is still secured inside.

i found an article through google from jan 2022 and it says samsung magician doesn't recognize external devices, such as an ssd inside a usb enclosure.

https://www.diskpart.com/articles...-4125.html

edit: i just realized that "article" i linked is a website selling it's own software for disk management Frown

Usually will not work due to PCIe to USB interface conversion. I would just put it in the PC to upgrade the firmware and avoid the USB conversion.

I won't test it directly for obvious reasons but I do have it and can guess how it would go. The latch is a push and release which might be knocked open via a fall. The tool less attachment is a rubber spring that almost certainly will be knocked loose. It's' extremely convenient but I would never call it rugged.

Don't know why this is front page.
Bought this a couple of weeks ago for ~$13 - works perfectly fine - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MKCG5ZG/
I think it's the max transfer rate different, the Sabrent one is usb 3.2 is allows up to 1000MB/s, this one is capped at 500MB/s

I bought a usb-c hub when it was posted on SD.
First one was DOA - micro sd slot was not working
Got a replacement.
Second one was also a DOA - the entire hub was not recognized by my devices

I ended up just returning it for amazon credit
