Would love to get thoughts on this one! Looking for something that can handle everyday web browsing and moderate Excel work and last 3+ years. No gaming.
Lenovo build quality is meh at best but the prices are always very competitive for the components. take a real hard look at how it is laid out and built though...
that configuration is great; I am using it to type right now and it is a robust processor that puts out acceptable amounts of heat.

not sure about consumer grade laptops, but I'd buy their Think laptops over Dell/HP any day.

Does the fan run a lot? I have an Ideapad that's a few years old and has always run pretty quiet on an 8th gen i7 with 8GB RAM but I haven't taken great care of the keyboard so am needing to replace.
Looks very similar to the IdeaPad 5 I purchased when Costco had their model on sale for the same price but came with 512GB SSD. I've had the laptop for about a month and it has been terrific for my needs. The i5 processor is fast compared to an older generation Dell i7 laptop I was previously using. The screen is not super bright but when the brightness is turned up it looks really good. I don't use my laptop much outside so the brightness is plenty for my needs. The battery life is pretty decent for having 3 cells and can get nearly a full day when not intensively using it. Mine came with Windows 10 but did the free upgrade to Windows 11, it was pretty simiple. The only thing this laptop is missing is a backlit keyboard but not a big deal for me. $549.99 seems like a pretty solid price for this laptop.

8th gen is quite new you can probably get it seviceable quite easily. but if you just want a new laptop, sure, why not
1135g7 does not produce egregious amounts of heat. 10th gen was stupid, on the other hand
Aside from touchscreen and double SSD memory, any significant difference in this from the ideapad 5 at Costco for $100 more? That one also has ryzen 5000

Can you post a link to the one you're asking about in comparison?
