Not a bad deal for someone needing a gaming laptop. It's not a full powered 3060 is my only concern.

What's Costco benefits? and the only difference I see is hard drive space
Costco return policy is (officially) 90 days on electronics (unofficially) longer. Fifteen days for Microcenter! Costco doubles the manufacturers warranty making it 2 years. Costco concierge service, included, will help you work through any issues via phone. Using Costco Citi visa card earns you 2% cash back at Costco and executive members get an additional 2% cash back.

On second thoughts the only difference I get on Costco deal is the 90 day returns. The difference in rewards % and shipping/gas gets offset. I get 2nd year warranty with my chase card anyway.. so im just going to keep the one from microcenter.. my son loves this laptop and is gaming on it everyday.. however when he upgraded yo to win 11, some of the lights didnt work .

Great gaming laptop. Knowing msi, it would probably run hot and loud as hell with stock settings (like a helicopter, no joke). If you go to the power settings and dial the max cpu capability to 95% it would be so much quieter and becomes like a normal gaming laptop.
I am WFH and sitting next to my son (home sick today) who has a MSI GF66 that was sounding like a helicopter. Just adjusted and is now silent.

Also curious, is only diff between this for $899 the RTX 3050 vs 3060?

I don't have this model, but have the gs65 with the 3060. Great machine for the price. It does indeed sound like a helicopter before undervolting (which helps a little bit but not a ton). One word of warning however: my model also has this same intel wireless card and it's a known issue that download speeds are absolutely dogshit. Wired: 500mbps+ on a gb line. Wireless (and next to the router): 20mbps at best. It's apparently a hardware issue with the antenna. I've even tried boosting the power to them and doesn't do squat. Other than that, a solid machine at this price point.

How does this compare to the gigabytes g5 that was $945 on Amazon last week?

Small SSD for the price and Windows 11 not preinstalled.
No Windows 11 is supposed to be a bad thing? I think you would be surprised how many people would prefer Win 10.

Any idea if we can overclock or flash the bios to support 115W? Considering this but then again I have a 115W 2060 with a i5 10300H now and not sure if this is worth the "upgrade"
Unlikely. I couldn't find anything currently available to up the tdp. I'd say hold off on the "upgrade".
