My local Lowe's has their Kobalt 80V tool/combo kit clearance for around this price. I have one and it's way more powerful than this; my father has one. Only downside is the 80v Kobalt battery only fits a small selection of tools

they make battery adapters, just have to be careful of where the BMS is located, on the battery or the tool. The proprietary battery connections is the huge environmental waste and purely profit driven sadly.

All of these blowers chew through batteries whether 20 volt or 60 volt. Because of that they're really not a substitute for a good quality gas blower. Plus, gas blowers are far more powerful. That being said, I use my DeWalt blower all the time for small quick cleanups on the deck and patio area. My recommendation is to get both gas and either battery version, but if you only want one... go for gas.

With minor plastic modification, Kobalt and Greenworks tools and batteries are interchangeable.

I bought this last year around this time when it went to $99. It had replaced my electric blowers that I lugged around the yard tethered to extension cords for many years. I love this blower and would buy this again in a heartbeat, if I needed it.

The performance is directly proportional to the battery you have in it. The 2ah was ok for light duty for about 10-15mins. The 5ah is what I use most, giving good power for about 15-20mins, and more than enough to make a full lap around my whole property. Occasionally I'll slam the 8ah in there and it takes its power to a whole other level, besting any electric blower I've ever used, almost to the point of making me wonder if its going to blow the motor!

If you're on the fence and already have DeWalt batteries, just buy the thing.

If you have at least 2 9ah Flexvolt batteries, then I would agree with your friend. I started with this, and when I accumulated a collection of Flexvolts through other deals I upgraded to the 60V and I never use this one anymore. However, if you only have 20V batteries, then this is the one to get. It is lighter, not as loud, and performs very well clearing off hardscapes such as driveways, decks and patios. I use a 5ah battery and I've only drained it once.

If you've got a stack of 60v batteries or plan on getting into 60v tools, you may as well get the 60v version (it should run on 20v batteries as well. Run time will probably be still be short but you'll get more power out of 60v.

I have this blower. It runs around 20 minutes at full blast on a 6 AMP battery. Longer if using lower power. I considered the 772x1 which is the 60 Volt only version but chose the 722 for lighter weight and I already have a bunch of 20 volt batteries and no 60 volt. I got mine to replace a cheap $25 Toro corded blower because I am old and getting too lazy to wind up the extension cord.

Shows as $179 on the website. $149 without battery. Plus only comes with a 2ah battery.

If this Dewalt runs about 4 min per 1ah, I gotta imagine the more powerful Kobalt won't run more than 6 min per 2ah.
