Thank you. Got this for my parents. Bought it from amazon via the same seller because of their 90 day return policy for renewed. It is 10$ more but worth it.
Do you get the 1 year warranty if buying from Amazon?
Yeah, but not when Google pushes out crappy security updates and it bricks your camera. Then when you ask them about it, they make you factory reset your device (ie delete everything and start from scratch). When that doesn't work, they tell you it's a hardware issue and you need to either mail it in (no phone for weeks) or take it to a local shop... All because they don't want to admit that their engineers screwed up and likely don't even know how to correct their screw-up.
Don't believe me? Go to the Google Play Store and look up reviews for "Google Camera" (the stock phone app for the pixel 4) and, first note that it only has 2.2 stars and then read the reviews discussing their camera not working. This had been going on for about 2 years and Google has been trying to cover it up the whole time. 👎🏻👎🏻
Be aware with these refurbs that condition can be questionable or open to interpretation. I got the pixel 5 variant which said excellent condition. Very light, barely noticeable scratches, if any. The phone I received had no marks on the body, but the screen looked like it had a bad run in with a buffing machine that had sand in the pad, and the power cord would not stay plugged in. Needless to say, it's going back. So YMMV
Don't do it. The Pixel XL 4 had a widespread battery defect and they ended up having to extend the warranty for an extra year. That program just ended in December 2021. The battery connection eventually fails and leaves the phone with a "unable to read battery meter" message that can't be dismissed, and will start to have extreme battery life issues. UbreakIfix also is not able to replace the battery in some situations because part of the problem can cause the battery to overheat and melt to the battery housing inside the phone. The fact that this model is two years old now (and their batteries) is probably why they are dumping inventory as "open box".
I just dealt with all this the last three weeks and ended up getting a refurb through Google Fi insurance, but you check reddit and find many complaining about this issue. Many think it's an issue with android 12, but it really is just a widespread defect.
yup, having this issue right now and it is hard to find resources on how to fix it. What a POS
