Not a bad deal if they're what you need. The fixed focus (which means you can only really use them for things at least 60 feet away) combined with a relatively narrow field of view mean that you need to think carefully about whether these will do what you want.

Personally, if I were getting binoculars specifically for distant objects I would want 10x magnification. If you have a different specific need these could be a good fit though. It seems like quick and easy one handed use is really the selling point of these.

Thanks! Headed to Africa for some backpacking and safari style travel. This appear to be well-suited to those purposes.

Extensive review here: https://www.bestbinocularsreviews...ew-246.htm

Seems like a great deal. I'm quite tempted but do not need another set of binos right now.

Nice link. If you wear eyeglasses, the eye relief on these is a limiting factor.

From the review:

> To test the eye-relief, I folded down the eye-cups and wore my sunglasses. Here I was just about able to view the entire field of view without any black rings forming on the edges. So for most users there will be more than enough eye-relief. For eyeglass wearers, I would say that it these are ok, but not what I would consider to be a long eye-relief binocular.

I saw multiple websites listing the exit pupil number = 15. That's just wrong. Exit pupil= objective diameter divided by magnification (30/8)=3.75.

I have Steiner 7x50 Marine version which is awesome on a boat. I'm shocked that the 8x30 is so cheap. Thinking about it.

Reading that review linked above, these are hunting binoculars with special coating to bring out red/brown colors of wildlife. Greens are dulled. In general, colors you'll see through these will not match the reality 100% (which could be good if you're looking for red/brown objects)

Great binoculars! Paid last spring $199 which was at that time a pretty good price. Use them for hiking and have 2 other Steiners. Quality product, made in Germany. Warranty is no questions ask and transferable. Steiner is a NATO supplier 🤘🏻
