About this game:
Genre: Action RPG, Adventure
4K Enhanced (on Xbox One X / Series X only)
Single Player
Play as Yuma Ilvern and stop the Empire from exploiting the power of the ancient dragons, including the soul of the Shining Dragon within you. With the help of your friends, realize your destiny, save Astoria, and unleash the strength you've always had locked away.
In the original game, previously released only in Japan, Imperial Princess Excella was an unplayable character, but in the new "Refrain Mode" in Shining Resonance Refrain, both she and Dragonslayer Jinas can be added as party members for a new experience – just be sure to save this for your second playthrough to avoid any spoilers!
Summary: "Play as Yuma Ilvern and stop the Empire from exploiting the power of the ancient dragons, including the soul of the Shining Dragon within you. With the help of your friends, realize your destiny, save Astoria, and unleash the strength you've always had locked away."
I'm sitting here wondering the same. I loved the old tactics based ones on the Sega Genesis, I think SF2 was actually the last game I ever physically purchased on the Genesis. I remember it was a bit more expensive than the normal game and had a cardboard box for the case instead of the usual plastic clamshell.

No, this game is not related to any of the Force games at all. It's a regular, boring JRPG and I made it about 5 hours in before I gave up. If you've played any Tales game in the past 20 years, you may like this…. Maybe.
As for the mobile game that's being developed, the company behind it lost a shit-ton of money last year, so don't be surprised if it ends up being cancelled. This news is about a week old, I think? So pretty recent.
It's set in the same universe as all of the other Shining games, and item names are similar, like healing herbs and stuff like that. But, it's more of a traditional RPG. I'm pretty hyped for the Smart Phone game though, and I hope that it gets an English release, and even if it doesn't, I might still try to play it in Japanese.
