I used to do the red pocket $5/mo/500mb plan... Until they shut it completely down with no warning and no apologies. Stick with the T-Mobile connect $10-15 plan if you need prepaid data that's actually there when you need it.

Just curious, when did they shut you down? I'm still on that 500mb Annual plan using AT&T sim and they haven't shut me down.

Did you contact them because there has been couple times where my "monthly" renewal didn't renew and I lost service. Quick chat with them & was back up & running in no time.

Isn't this the regular price? Also, this price is only available for TMo network.

I believe this their regular price, and only available on GSMT network. I put this in an older Verizon android phone to use as a backup (I use GV so only need data with the GV app). Not a bad deal but this is their regular price. I don't believe I have ever seen this plan on sale.

This is on T-Mo (no problem for most), and, importantly, you cannot check V/M from another phone, must use minutes.

I don't remember specifically but it was probably 2014, because here's where I found it happened in 2015 but they gave 2 days notice https://www.howardforums.com/show...st15940514

And I remember after it happened once without notice, I left. It wasn't just me, it was all redpocket tmobile users. And it wasn't "didn't reactivate like it should have" everything was just gone/dead, no service, and customer service had no clue, and since it's not their network there's nothing they could do. I guess it's a risk with any mvno, but thankully tmobile has direct plans that are almost (as) cheap if you look for them

Ah that was before my time and a lifetime ago in tech lifespan. lol

They've been good for me for the last 4 yrs or so. Like I said I had those couple glitches where my yearly plan didn't renew on it's monthly renewal date. They fixed it fast though.

My bro has been on this plan the OP posted for couple years. He doesn't use his phone much. shake head I'm on the 500mb/month $60 yearly plan. I'm mostly at home on WiFI so don't need much data or mins. I use Google Voice for most of my calls/texts. Hard to beat his at $2.50/month & mine at $5/month +GV=free.

This is not a deal.

It's the regular price. I've had a couple of older relatives on this plan for about 2 years.

Do not buy RP. Run far away. I've been a customer for years. I have six lines with them.

They bungled the 3G shutdown. They failed to provision VoLTE. Four of my lines have had no service for two weeks. No calls, texts, or data.

Emails get auto reply with condescending advice to enable VoLTE on my phone. Customer service chat is disabled, calls are unanswered.

Two weeks without service, just waiting for the last two lines to shut down too.

I've begun the process of clawing back the money I paid, filing a fraud claim with my bank.

It's an AT&T mess, but all the MVNOs suffers. AT&T just shut down 3G and now everyone including Boost, Red Pocket even their own Cricket are dealing with no call. The problem is AT&T has a list of which phone it supports, in addition to the phone itself supports VoLTE. On iPhones it is no problem because AT&T isn't going to piss off rich iPhone users. Other than that, if your phone is not an AT&T model, then your phone is likely not supported. Sure you can blame it on Red Pocket, but AT&T is a monopoly and MVNO's leverage is pretty weak. You can try moving to another AT&T MVNO, I bet you it will be the same.

TMobile is also going to shut off their 3G network next month, but I bet people at TMO are more sane and more customer focused.

1. This is an AT&T phone.
2. I'm not AT&T's customer, I'm Red Pocket's. The mess might be between them and AT&T, it's not relevant to me.
3. RP is blaming me.
4. Two weeks of chasing them. More than ten hours on the phone. "Accidental" disconnections. Emails receive form replies. Chat is disabled.
5. No compensation is offered. Not even the time without service. Forget about the time I've poured into fixing their mistake.

You're suggesting empathy for a corporation, which at the best of times is providing service for money. Now they're not providing service either.
