No keyboard or pen and 11th gen intel 8gb ram and 128 storage..overall too much to pay
I want one for work on the go and have been eyeballing these forever. It's the damn price point vs the overall hardware specs that get me everytime I get a new lappy. I can always find a more robust spec for less and slim enough to compete for mobility..
SSD is user replaceable on this for those concerned with storage.
This is true, yes,
but as of right now, the m.2. 2230 is still in an obscure stage and anything past 256GB is much more pricier than say a 2242 equivalent.
The only real reasonably valued 2230 are the 256GBs that go for $38-49.

Yeah, the prices were shockingly high. And while Microsoft didn't make a 4GB/64GB config, the 8GB/128GB base model is pricey, as (coming from the Surface Pro 3-7+, you no longer have the nifty microsd card slot to expand.
I was hoping Microsoft was up for pulling a Google Pixel6 move, and pricing the SP8 hundreds lower than the iPad Pro, but unfortunately this didn't happen .

Honestly though the Surface Pros aren't designed to be primary laptops, which makes 128GB plenty for that ultra mobile productivity use case. After Windows and Office 365 installed, you'd have 60GB free, which is enough for a few more big apps like Photoshop and more than enough for web browsing. But the "just in case" people can install their own 256GB if needed.
This really needs to include the type cover to make it slick-ish though. $1k with the type cover for a secondary device is
The Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable Laptop: 12.3", i7-1160G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD deal for just over $1k looks better comes with stylus and BL keyboard.
