I'm all over this one, thanks OP!
There's another saw that looks the same but is cheaper.
$6.99 shipping.

I have the saw. Works as it should. I don't have the comparable dewalt, but that's because the comparable dewalt costs twice as much.

Can anyone compare this saw to the Ryobi 10" slider (tss103)?

This Hercules is twice the saw of the Ryobi.

10" vs 12" blade
Compound vs Dual Compound
Better guards on the Herc that are also adjustable
Laser vs LED Shadow Guide
Literally everything is much better on the Herucles.

Good price for this unit. I bought it about 2 years ago for its previous standard price ($349) to cut vinyl flooring for a house remodel. Also used it to cut PT lumber for a deck remodel. Been happy with it so far. Dust collection system is kinda hinky, but the unit is heavy and feels sturdy.

https://www.menards.com/main/tool...803142.htm $100 more at menards gets you a significantly better miter saw.

The front slide on that Hitachi is a nice feature. I'd also suggest the Ridgid option with better features than this Hercules and a lifetime warranty for $330. https://slickdeals.net/f/15637495-ridgid-15-amp-corded-12-in-dual-bevel-sliding-miter-saw-with-70-deg-miter-capacity-and-led-cut-line-indicator-r4222-329-99

I have this saw also, and can confirm it is better than the comparable dewalt. The shadow function is great.

Thanks for the suggestion. That saw looks good but apparently people have had issues with an intermittent blade wobble which is worrisome. However this saw has a 90 day warranty instead of lifetime on the Ridgid so, tough choice! The real question is do I want to upgrade from my 10" Hitachi which just today I was disappointed by the inability to cut a 2x6 at 45 degree miter.

I am primarily a ridgid tool owner, however, their miter saws do not have great reputation either. In the facebook group there's guys sharing feedback about the sliding feature being troublesome.

Generally speaking, I think Dewalt is the top choice (first hand experience as well) when it comes to miter saws, and a lot of guys in the trades I know run Hitachi (Metabo Now), with overall good feedback.

If you are a hobby user, the ridgid with warranty is good middle option (in case something goes bad) if you dont need to depend on it for money making.

Overall though, the consensus is that nobody I know trusts the harbor freight choice. I personally own a few tools from there (mostly non power tools) and the few power tools I do, required basically tear down, grease, and rebuilding/replacing parts to get them to work adequately.
