Depending on how much you wanted to spend and how cheap it could look, you could take door hinges and attach them to the wall with the barrel at the bottom, and to the edge of a board a couple lengths of chain with 4 screw hooks, and you have a fold up desk for $10 or less.
Better design, build a 3-sided frame (top and sides) from wood, even pallet wood, drill a hole at the bottom of the sides and your surface board, run a dowel rod through and cut off the excess. Attach a chain or use struts like this item to hold it to a minimum lowered position. Have some form of magnet or Velcro to hold it up, or even a toggle piece at the top you can rotate to latch it shut. Add LED light strips inside for mood lighting. You can add a board to the back of your surface and secure this to your wall so there's no gap and you can just leave your laptop inside. Make it big enough and you could mount a monitor and put your keyboard inside.
I could think of more designs and the possibilities are endless. It depends on your skill set, budget and requirements. If you can't do any of that, this isn't the worst thing you could buy. It's definitely not quality, but I was considering it, until I thought of this. My issue is, "Will I actually get around to doing it?"
