Was really tempted by this, would be my first printer, but reviews scared me off
Don't let the reviews scare you. Any printer under $1,000 is going to require some tinkering, which is necessary if you're going to actually learn the hobby. This would be a great printer to learn on since it already has a lot of the upgrades that people tend to do first.

nothing to be afraid of for a first printer. I would actually recommend it over most the others. its not a printer you can/need to tinker with. Its best left stock config and just print.
if you want to tinker get an ender 3 and be prepared for lots of mods and upgrades. You learn a lot but its endless and hurts the wallet.
I jumped-in. I'm a longtime Ender 3 Pro user and have replaced many of the stock parts over time. I've been shopping for bigger build volume and at this price, it's a small chance worth taking.
Well...the CR-10 arrived today, shipped from IMakr in NYC via UPS. The box was pretty rough...definitely had seen a few round trips, all the corners were rounded, the cardboard was dingy and littered with a dozen or more random shipping labels, and UPCs cut-out of the cardboard for maybe past rebates? I was already working on the PayPal dispute in my mind before I opened the box to find (drum roll)....
A COMPLETELY BRAND NEW UNIT
A shiny brass virgin hot end, the build plate had the protective clear decal, so did the touch screen. All parts were brand spanking new. The assembly was way faster than Ender 3s I've built in the past and I'm printing a Benchy right now.

Wishing others the same luck with a new unit.
haha same exact scenario for me, torn up box with tons of labels/amazon tape. But I opened it and everything was brand new, aside from a little mark on the bed. Printed a couple things and they look great! miles ahead of the $100 ender 3 pro from MC I got and am going to return.

Awesome! I hope the others have this same surprise waiting for them. I flashed into the .13 firmware today and bed leveling is improved.
