Woot is having a sale on the Ninja Foodi IG651 Smart XL Pro 7-in-1 Indoor Grill/Griddle Combo for $183.99 with Free S&H for Amazon Prime Members. This model includes the Foodi Smart Thermometer that turns off the oven as soon as the desired temperature is reached. The condition of these grills are Refurbished and have a 90 day warranty. This is the latest model in the Ninja Foodi Grill series and the griddle works great for things like pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. The unit also has top and bottom burners unlike the previous ones.

These grills are about 50% off the new price on Amazon.

Woot also has the previous model, the Ninja FG551 Foodi Smart XL 6-in-1 Indoor Grill, on sale for $139.99. The difference between this one and the IG651 is that there is no griddle included and it only has a top burner.

I was just about to share this as well: https://www.woot.com/offers/ninja...gw_dly_snb

I got the: Ninja FG551 Foodi Smart XL 6-in-1 Indoor Grill ($139.99), as I couldn't wait for Kohls, Costco, Amazon, etc for the same/similar deal from the past winter. And the griddle-aspect wasn't needed by me (gas-stovetop is much, much more economical and user-friendly for me vs. an electric-griddle).

I'm hoping these are customer returns, not necessarily scratch-&-dent/refurbished/repaired stuff. I did it with my AmazonPrime, so hopefully exchange/return isn't a P.I.T.A.

I've been wanting this for awhile!

Does the IG651 Smart XL 7-in-1 offer a different heating/cooking mechanism, vs. the previous-generation FG551 XL 6-in-1 version?

Yes, the IG651 has a top and a bottom burner. Also, you can cook with the lid up or down, unlike the FG551 that only has one top burner and cooks with the lid down only. I have the IG651 and love cooking with it. It cooks so much better than the older versions, especially with pizza, you can get a nice crispy bottom crust easily in minutes.

That's quite an outlay of $$$ for a 90-day warranty. Woot returns are absolutely terrible these days so be aware of what you might get yourself into. My own personal experience was a $120 Ring spotcam. I filled out the webform, sent emails and did everything I could within the 90 day window to return an item with missing parts. I literally had to complain to the BBB and they still did not respond. A pre-paid shipping label just showed up on my email one day about a month and a half later (yes that's over 4.5 months to get a RMA) with no company name. I had to look up the address to see that it was Woot. Finally got my refund a month later. Never again.

I've heard of some negatives of IG651 vs the FG551 as well. Some people have reported that its not as easy to clean, it's not as deep so you can't bake/grill large items, the sloping gets annoying for food to slide, and there isn't as much cooking area due to the grease trap. Did you have both models? It's been hard to choose (I won't griddle, but grilling with two heating elements would seem it would be improvement in sear in theory)

Yes, I've had all three models, and currently use the IG651. The original one is deeper than the FG551 and IG651, but these are wider. I clean mine every time, because if you don't, they accumulate grease very quickly. I use a Nylon scrubber that doesn't scratch off the ceramic coating of the pans. It's not that bad as long as you stay on top of it. The grill is slightly sloped, so food can slide down. It hasn't been that much of a problem for me, but I read a good solution is to raise the bottom with magazines / paper, etc. so you can even out the slope. The cooking area is slightly smaller from the grease trap over the FG551, but the IG651 has a MUCH better grill gate and the top / bottom elements cook things so much better - the pros greatly outweigh the cons. That's been my experience and I'm loving the IG651 so far. I got mine on Black Friday, so I've been using it for three months.

The IG651 is the better model because of the smart thermometer, which the IG601 doesn't have. Basically, you can set it to a temperature and the whole oven will turn off once it's reached.

Thanks for the detailed response - I had no idea! It seems like there's been appreciable enhancements with limited drawbacks across the 3 generations (1st was great for literally cooking but limited size; 2nd offered more size but less cooking performance of the former; 3rd offers 2-level cooking but form-factor requires more attention to maintain).

My liimited countertop real-estate is very much in high-demand, it'll be interesting where I can place & use it...

My thinking precisely. The FG551 ended up being ~$152/shipped for me ($139.99 + tax, free Prime shipping). This winter (Nov-Dec), it was possible to get it from Kohls for ~$160'ish (pre-tax) brand-new. I've been actively looking Jan-Feb, and I figure I'd just grab what I can now.

I'll rely on my credit-card's warranty, if-warranted, so to speak. And perhaps being a Prime customer (and branded payment-card) may offer some customer-service. I am just hoping that it's not a damaged/repaired unit.

Interestingly, the delivery ETA is March 7-9... quite a ways off.

For ~$50, I'd keep the brand-new IG601 if you don't need+want the thermometer accessory & capability.

Earlier this evening, the FG551 arrived brown-box & well-packed. The accessories looked brand-new, the main-unit looked unused also - but some light hazing/marks on the bezel & trim (ie. demo/display unit or return). I used some Sheila-shine spray & it all buffed out.

The product sticker with S/N had a (presumably) refurb ID bar-code over it. But, the S/N is barely visible & I'll nonetheless register the product. Woot says 60-days, Ninja refurb says 90 days, Shark new-product says 1-year.

Powered-up just fine, and I'll likely grill / roast some stuff tomorrow. With that said, these are very large in form-factor & take up a good bit of counter real-estate, on the countertop & airspace. Considering I generally cook-for-one, not sure how practical it may be. Though I needed something beyond the oven & stovetop, for grilling & airfrying.

Here's a PDF of the model's cooking-guide: https://d3gqasl9vmjfd8.cloudfront...44480e.pdf
