The $800 one available on bestBuy is equipped with Intel i5 10th gen and this one is Intel i7 10th gen.
Does this make a lot of difference that is worth $99?

They are basically same Processor, both are 6 Core but i7-10700H has 100 MHz base clock advantages. As per various reviews, they literally perform exactly the same way. You should use that $99 to upgrade the Ram by adding another 8GB stick and may be spend the rest to get another 1TB NVMe SSD which can be purchased for the budget ones around $70-$75.

Both are toaster processors with little power.

Off-topic question: if you replace the SSD with a new one, how do you reinstall Windows? I know the software key is now linked to your hardware (mobo?) so no longer need to enter a key after installation like back in the days. Create a boot drive from a USB with a copy of Windows and boot from there?

Only makes a difference if you're encoding or being a streamer. I5 is the same as the I7 except for hyperthreading,

Used to be long back, with 7th gen. Since 8th gen Mobile Processor, both i5 and and i7 have HT, the difference are in core count, clock speed and LE Cache. Both i5-10500H and i7-10750H are HT Enabled 6C/12T configuration.

New generations of i3 through i5 have hyperthreading by default. Thank AMD for making that happen. I recall just a few generations ago when i7 didn't have HT and only i9 did. I forget the exact processor numbers. Intel being Intel and looking to gouge their customers.
