Don't they just link you to retailers?
Anyway I bought one on bestbuy.com a week ago with in store pick up. Supposedly will be ready this Saturday.
This to get you by as I would bet most people won't be able to get their hands on a steam deck at retail this year.

No, I was able to add it to cart. They have the Monster Hunter Deluxe Edition in stock as well for those who are looking for one.
It said 9 left both before and after I ordered. Not sure what's up with that

Likely it would depend on your game library and gaming preferences. I have a Switch, but many/most games are kids games. I am waitlisted for Steam Deck and have quite an expansive Steam game library, many games not for kids (too advanced or violent). Thus, I will have both, but might mostly play Steam Deck, subject to it being a good platform (based on previews it is)

Thanks but no thanks!
Word of advice, you can download the emulator made for Nintendo switch and able to run homebrew/ROM games off of it for FREE.
Haters be hated but that's OK for telling the truth.
