Good speakers. You absolutely need a sub. Overpriced. You can't go wrong with these, but you can go so much more right with other choices.

Way better. Much more intuitive and it actually works. However, Lots of reviewers note problems when you are running mesh networks like Orbi

For LSX you definitely need a sub, not sure for LS50 Wireless II, but i own LS50 Wireless and never felt need for the sub.

Have had these for over a year and can agree w/ the Orbi, it takes 5 mins of F'in around with the app to get them to power up, after that they are fine.

I run mine with Rel HT-1205 X2. Pretty bad ass IMO. My prior speakers were powered, so I didn't want to go thru the amp and streamer BS. Others may prefer the other route.

When I bought, list was $2500 and local shop in Atlanta (hi-fi Buy's) gave me $150 off.

I have heard them with and without. It's night and day. These speakers without a sub is a waste of money.

There is music in every genre that benefits from a sub. I have 708p speakers that are, in a word, excellent. They go down to about 40 Hz. They sound fantastic. However, they sound far, far more fantastic when the bottom 60 Hz or so are taken by my sub, in everything from movies to Mozart to mumble rap. Well, OK, mumble rap is bad, but you know what I mean.

holy shit i did not know the wireless ones were 2300. my friend has a normal pair and they're great as far as i'm concerned. to me i'd rather get a floorstanding speaker setup for hifi but it's a clean look for smaller spaces.

Trust me, subs aren't just for baseheads. Turn the sub volume down low enough so it is indistinguishable as a separate unit from the speakers. It's magical how much of a difference it makes with a pair of high quality studio monitors. I spent 20 years listening to subs all wrong, they were too loud compared to the speakers. I got tired of the booming. Then I finally turned the subs down to the point were it felt like it was coming from the speakers. The only indication you have a separate subwoofer should be the fact that you know a 6.5" driver can't possibly go that low. You don't even need an expensive sub.

Now if only someone could do something about the $850,000 barrier of entry... a single family house to actually listen to these in.
