Great price for a great knife aimed at the tactical crowd. But it does have a few flaws:

D2 is only hardened to 58HRC, which is a minor crime, IMHO, since D2 can achieve much higher hardness. I've got knives in D2 hardened to more like 62HRC, which will hold an edge longer, but be a bit more brittle for really hard use which is exactly what this knife is designed for. So, maybe 58HRC was as far as they took the hardening on purpose.
I'm not a fan of the seat belt cutter because it's positioned right at the bottom of the pocket clip, were the material of your pants is likely to slip under and cut your pants. This is a problem I've read about from several owners.
Glass breaker sticks out the back of the knife, which may be an important tool for a first responder, but is a bit much to have sticking up out of my pocket on an EDC knife.
AT-XR lock sticking up on the spine is questionable to me, and could lead to accidently disengagement. Also, with the knife being tip up carry (which is my preference) but it does mean that the lock will be sticking up and rubbing against your hand and everything in your pocket. Flipper tabs on a knife can cause the same problem. Overall, I'm ambivalent on needing to be able to lock my knife shut if it has a decent detent, but being able to do so is mandatory if you are employing the seat belt/strap cutter and don't want to accidently deploy the blade while doing so.

This beast is still a really great knife, just maybe not what some may want in a comfortable to carry EDC. Appears to be quite popular with the military, tactical, first responder crowd or anyone who just likes big, solid knives. If you carry it on a belt or in a pack then most of the negative I've mentioned disappear. I'm a fan of the BA look of basic black with the classic red accents. And, this is a screaming deal as not too long ago this knife was selling for $100+.

SOG is doing a lot to up their game, IMHO, after slipping for little a bit.

What an absolutely stupid response.

When buying a knife, I like to know if the quality of something is good or not. I guess this is slickdeals where it only matters if it's cheap. If that's the case, go buy a plastic butter knife and leave the more quality products to those who know what they're talking about.

This website attracts some weird people.

The tip is thin and easily broken on this particular knife, and the seatbelt Cutter is at the wrong angle to actually work well. Also, the glass breaker is weakly embedded in the plastic handle scale. Also also, the glass breaker can gash your hand when in your pocket if your not careful. Also, better keep it locked because it has a tendency to accidentally open.

But, it's cheap

FYI SOG's owners have sold the company so if there is something they make at the moment I would buy before they change up the lineup. I carry the trident elite daily and love it.

The pictures look like the thumb stud and lock are plastic so I went looking and found this review on BladeHQ(still $95 there BTW). Also, what is that thing sticking up on the spine? I think I will pass on this one.

"I had issues with needing lots of pressure on the studs to get this knife to deploy. After a ton of actuations it's smoother finally and deploys well. It's the small details that put me off on this one; plastic hardware and thumb studs that either catch or do not place pressure evenly, pressure against the back skull crusher into your hand on deployment, and unfortunately now side to side play on the blade. I put moderate (not hard) pressure against the side of the blade with my thumb and the knife has opened up slightly and that play is now in the action."

Any free shipping code? Seems like they charge $7.70 for shipping.

Forgot my black SOG Trident at the World Trade Center last Sept... Awesome to be able to get a replacement for an awesome price. It was my primary EDC until it got left behind,

I live in the Puget Sound Area and when the prior knife's tip had broken, SOG sharpened the tip away and made it like new in less than 5 minutes in their store in Mukilteo. No charge Awesome service. Unfortunately, with the recent buyout of SOG, they closed their Showroom and Store, and it's just an office now.

I also love that the pocket catch hides the majority of the knife in your pocket for concealment, making it less obvious that you have a knife on you.

In for two! Thanks OP!

Have the older model of this, it sucks.

The lock frequently engages on its own, and if the pocket clip gets bent there is no bending it back.

It rides in a toolbox now.

We get it. This knife isn't for you Mr. Nitpickerson.
When a knife has fundamental design flaws, pointing them out so others will know what they are getting is not nitpicking. Why do you think this knife used to sell at around $100 and is now $40?

Oh, I forgot to mention in my first post that SOG left the portion of the handle right under the pocket clip rough rather than smoothing it out. With the aggressive texture on the handle, it's going to be grinding a nice little hole in your pants pocket right where it's pinched by the pocket clip. That's if you don't cut your pants on the strap cutter first.

Yeah, SOG has been slipping for several years now. I think they are attempting a comeback, but many of their models aren't there yet. Including this one. But, at $40, if this floats your boat anyway, then climb on board.

Their big comeback was squashed the second the soulless management had the Covid excuse to lay off all of the talent they recruited and sell the brand name to yet another soulless venture capital group
