eMMC != SSD. This is very cheap, but the specs are awful (passmark CPU score 894, for comparison they're also selling a model with a Celeron N3350, a processor which was low end when it came out in 2016 and is ~20% faster, it's been a while since I saw something this low). 220 nits and 45% NTSC color gamut is also bad. The claim that it can survive falls and soda splashes is laughable. I'm not sure you could get this for even an elementary student and expect it to be usable in any meaningful way.

I would like to see something better from AMD at this price point, and they have announced such chips[anandtech.com] although the TDPs are higher. The 9120C/9220C are dual-core, dual-thread on 28nm that need to be put out to pasture, but I'd like to pay $50 to help them do that, not $100.
I think AMD has stopped focusing on the low-end as much due to limited capacity that they would rather use for higher-end products. Intel has a better presence due to having their own fabs. If AMD put a Van Gogh quad-core (7nm) in a Chromebook, it would be a monster.

You are right. AMD is now valued more than Intel (laughable but stock market has been a gambling house for the last two years - I guess WFH crowd had too much time & money in their hands) that they won't touch the lower-end products -- that helped them survive during bad times -- until they get pushed out of higher end.

I'm a teacher in a big urban public school district. These are the exact models our district buys for students. They get the job done. One good thing about these models is the dual usb c ports on both sides that are identical and can be used for PD on both as well as dp alt mode

Would this be on par with an N4020 based unit?
