Yeah... Microcenters are not like Walmarts.

My point was just that Even when a motherboard might be priced a bit higher at Microcenter, the actual processors themselves are usually such a good deal that it makes up for it. That's all. Why is everyone always assuming that we're playing some sort of juvenile one up game?

edit: If you do have the pleasure of living near a Microcenter I bet they'd price match Adorama and you could get the same mobo deal as normal if it makes sense to do

edit: ah... I see you called me a liar and insulted my character. I have not lied. You can see the processor is listed at micro Center for $299.99 (https://www.microcenter.com/produ...t-included) and then there were two recent coupons you could get. One was for "new customers" and then I found another through an Instagram ad of all things.

Here is the one I used for the 5800x
https://microcenterinsider.com/pu...5gJg%3D%3D

and here is the one I used for the 5600x to get it for $180

http://m.icro.co/OuMYvvbE

And here is the post about one of the coupons here: https://slickdeals.net/f/15616954-microcenter-save-50-on-ryzen-5600x-ryzen-5800x-intel-i7-12700k-intel-i9-12900k-cpus-in-store-purchase-new-customer-coupon

So please, check your knowledge before you go disparaging others out of frustration or jealousy.

edit: While Microcenter does have the 5950x for $629 I haven't done the math on the 5950x with a mb, but it's all just a balancing act of where can we get the best deal which is why we're here right? To disseminate knowledge to each other in order to help each other find the deal is sort of the point of being here yea?

I'm still kicking myself for not having a deal alert set up and missing the $520 5950X recently at Woot. Maybe not an all time low, but these seem to be pretty solid prices on these chips.

MC's mobo prices haven't been that great
With a cpu you might get $20 off the mobo but its priced higher than Amazon to start
You might get $10 off or less compared to other sellers.
The mobos used to be cheaper than Amazon and then $20 off
I bought 2 CPUs and 2 mobos last summer and the mobos were actually cheaper on Amazon. The virus and shortages put a crimp in MCs business model

But often the chips themselves are far cheaper. For instance, I just picked up a 5800x for $250.

Actually, the 5950X is more expensive at Microcenter even after combo deal.

buy now @ 600 or wait longer for the price to drop? I kicked myself for missing the 520 woot deal, but not sure how much further this will drop in the near future. Not in dire need, but would like to upgrade my server from a 3900x and still be able to sell off the 3900x while its still somewhat relevant.

Curious to know if the price discount for the 5900X could be attributed to the imminent arrival of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

Don't forget that you can also try to get Best Buy to price match these, I had them price match my local Microcenter when they had the 5950 going for $619. I was then able to use BB rewards I had to bring it down more. Good luck.
