I bought these table from walmart 10+ years ago, still use it everyday, pretty darn solid, i put dumbbel weight inside the table to stablized it, kinda dumb and waste of space but its unstable if you leaning on it when the top is up

I bought a few of these last October. Functionality wise they are great, and we use it raised to eat on while sitting on the couch. However, the actual finish/build quality is rough. The two I ordered both came banged up looking with dings and marks despite the outer packaging being in perfect condition. I'd guess there is very little QA for these. Also scotch tape is enough to pull off the finish, as we learned wrapping Christmas presents on the table.

Like I said it functions great but definitely doesn't "look" nice, even out of the box. I'm sure a table cloth or covering could fix that though. I love the concept of the table though, and never could find an alternative anywhere near this price range, at least in my area.

Owned it for 5.5 years. Lift mechanism continues to work great. I eat off it daily. However, the finish is very cheap. Anything sticky (like tape, or dried sauces) will remove the finish when you try to take it off.

Ikea Trulstorp is usually $99 unless it went up.... Definitely plain looking but top comes down slowly due to pump mechanism. Also has fixed portion that does not lift

It is indeed more, $129. Could be you got it during a deal, as I've rarely seen them increase prices. Still, I'd prefer to check the clearance section regularly to find it than order Mainstays brand furniture. I have a Mainstays cabinet I've been using for years, but the MDF is such low quality I am having to fix the hole that holds the magnetic closure every few months now.

I believe from the pictures, the ikea one doesn't actually lift up as high as this one, I could be wrong tho

I never measured it but it lifted to a decent height, I am thinking the surface area might be bigger but I havent looked at the specs on these

I've had this for almost two years and it is stable. Assembly was fairly easy. I lift/lower the table top nearly daily and it still feels sturdy - no wobbling, no loose or worn parts, and no concerns about it supporting what's on it. Hope that helps.

Have the gray version of this. Be mindful of how much/little it holds as you have to keep the bars clear to enable easy open/closing. While the table feels pretty heavy for its size, the finish is typical IKEA quality particle board/mdf.

Is that like the standard 'one size fits most' or a properly, general issue "one size fits none"?

Approximated to M4, yeah, it'll fit, but if you're going through that trouble, you're gonna want to mod the springs/lifters to pitch forward, and, of course swap out the top for something denser with some sort of interlaced fiber.

If you're going THAT far, you should probably just be done with it and go with a super-duty servo layout and automate.

Of course, if you're concerned about more than direct flying-debris, I'd recommend a sleeper sofa that you could convert into a foxhole . . .
