Nice deal, I would add it to my collection, but I have too many serrated knives already. I love all of my Cold Steel knives. Thumbs up!

Saw this on Amazon last night and bought one. I've been wanting to try S35VN steel., and this is a lot of knife for the money. Having a tanto blade on this model with a partially serrated edge doesn't concern me, In fact it's really useful and since this is a 4" blade, it'll be a lot less sharpening maintenance.

My Cold Steel Recon 1 just arrived and it's a tank of a knife! Sharpest new knife I've ever received and fit/finish is superb! For $80 this is a no brainer.

I have been in the electrical field for 25 years now and often use my knife to strip wire, where a serrated blade is of mostly no use, so most electricians do not prefer serrated knife blades. I said that to ask this, what does the rest of the world have against serrated blades? Are their other uses for straight blades that I'm just unaware of?

Average Amazon price is $90-100... Come on OP don't mislead. You can never trust that slashed price on Amazon, it's almost always bs.

I wonder if it is easy to use grinder to get rid of serrated ?. I m thinking about it when its time to sharp this knife.

I think Benchmade for EDC. This knife is for camping.

The retail price on Amazon is definitely puffed but this knife is over $120 on BladeHQ and KnifeCenter.

You can check camelcamelcamel to see Amazon's regular price is $90-100. Yes those other places are higher but that doesn't change anything.

Interesting question.

For EDC purposes, I rarely have use for serrated blades. Never have I met an Amazon box or envelope that a straight edge couldn't open. I sometimes cut or smooth off broken fingernails with my knife. I've made small incisions in my hand to remove prickly pear cactus thorns or deep splinters. Cutting a difficult piece of support off of a 3D print. Cutting cable ties off of cable bundles. Basically anything that is better done with precision is better done with a straight edge.

I've pulled out my knife to trim broken branches in my yard; I suppose a serrated blade might be better here, but if it were not an easy clean cut, I'd rather just grab shears.

If I went camping I guess I'd want a serrated blade, to cut rope or fabric or bread or whatever, and for the peace of mind that if my blade dulls and I have no convenient or immediate means of sharpening, I will still be able to push-cut.

I bought this non serrated version of this knife a year ago for $80 and it's a great knife but this price isn't special. It's probably the most heavy duty folding knife I own. Good edge retention and lockup is very tight, typical for a lock back style knife. It's quite heavy and large so good for abuse but not every day use (for me at least).
Worth $80-90, not much more.

I would avoid the serrated because of concerns with sharpening. You're losing a large portion of the knife with that. Also the "MSRP" is misleading and ridiculous
