I have done price adjustments (even on food) a few times, I just take the receipt, tell them which item(s) and they give credit back to my card. It is a stand alone checkout by the service desk at my costco. My costco does not require the item back/repurchase, so ymmv

Thanks OP. Broom/dustpan is a good buy, limit 1. Parm Crisps, Rao's, pistachios good pickups as well IMO.

edit: Sounds like locations (or policy changed to) now allow price adjustments without needing to return. See comments below.

They will do price adjustment within 30 days of item purchase date, whether in store or at Costco.com. Costco.com has a separate customer page for submitting online price adjustments

They throw away all food items that are returned regardless of sealed or unsealed. Reason? They won't take a chance it's been tampered with. That came directly from my neighbor, a district manager. He said people bring back half eaten rotisserie chickens that have gone moldy, totally dried up produce, you name it, they return it.
