It is listed as an indoor model, with MDF blades, so I'd say no

…and when the air goes down, it cools. Fans circulate the air in the room to start a downward flow that cools the air and keeps it cycling in a way that's generally more cost efficient than AC or reduces the output your AC has to do on its own to keep rooms or buildings cool. Likewise, most fans can also be switched to spin the other way and the blades then start pushing the air in an upward cycle, allowing it to help warm the air too.

Not seeing any airflow specs on either the Costco or Hunter website. From past experience I've learned to stay away from fans that don't mention airflow specs, they tend to end up having disappointing airflow.

Edit. Found the 2581 cfpm by clicking on the energy guide icon on hunter website. That's a bit too low.

Almost passed this one by because the description made it sound like it had integrated lighting, but the manual suggests it just comes with regular bulbs. Thanks! In for one.

Do these actually do anything besides the placebo affect? Don't mean to sound snarky, but hot air rises . . . right?

They do yes. They circulate the air all over the room. Unless you have no ceiling insulation then the air near the cirling should be about the same temp has the air new the ground.

I have above-code insulation, efficient furnace, high efficiency central air (no warm/cold spots) . . . so, wouldn't I want that hot air to stay at the top of the room if it were hot/no A/C?

My observations have been that people who are cold regardless this makes them feel chilly when it's 80 degrees and you just end up with an even swampiness (kitchen or dining room)

It has been either hot or cold in New England and we get about 3-6 days of spring and fall in the last 10 years or so.

Where I live we have our doors and windows open 90% of the time and the ceilings fans do wonders
