Pro tip: Use the receiver's web interface at http://ip_address/setup

It's much faster and better laid out.
People are really trashing this? Lol, this is an amazing deal for this price. There is nothing better spec and feature wise at this price point.

this is the exact model as v6a that retails for $640 and is sold out everywhere.

highly recommended, you can't go wrong with this for this price
Maybe they are trashing it because they are prior owners? This sub has issues. Didn't for about the first 9 months and then random reboots/freezes started occurring. Tried changing out cables/buying new cables/contacting support/hard resets/everything and nothing would fix the problem. The only thing that did end up fixing the issue was the return to Costco.

I prefer the sound quality and USB Playback of the TSR-700 compared to the Denon S750H but that's about it. It's kinda ugly, has a small display, horrible menu system and is kinda laggy. That said, it's still gonna be the receiver that runs my main system. I'd recommend the Denon or Onkyo for those that are new to the home theater game. If you like a brighter sound signature, go for the Onkyo or this Yami.

It's a perfectly fine buy. I've had mine for over a year with no issues. I never got the hdmi 2.1 upgrade because I just use EARC but these should come with the upgrade already installed.

the main problem with this unit (which is now fixed with the updated board) what HDMI handshake issues.

Other than that, it is a great value. Obviously some people will get a lemon, but that happens with any receiver.

several reviewers agree that this receiver is a great buy for the price.

There are always going to be lemons with any product and you're going to hear more about those than the happy owners, generally. I can only speak for myself in saying that while I'm not happy I had to send in my receiver to be updated to fix the HDMI 2.1 issue (which does not provide full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth), I've been extremely happy with everything else about the receiver. I upgraded from an RX-V867 that I also paid $400 for and is a similar tier product to the TSR-700. It was a noticeable upgrade even if the power rating on the TSR-700 is lower and it's missing a few things like dual HDMI out, full 7 channel analag inputs and 7.1 preamp outputs.

My TSR-700 is driving a full 7 speaker JBL Studio setup with 590's in the front. These are 6 ohm speakers all around and it's handling them well. I expected to need a separate amp to properly drive the 590's but they sound great even on the "weak" receiver's power.

Got last time in stock; small display is annoying. I like the sound but not sure is the one I will keep if Onkyo comes back in stock.

I swapped for a Denon E400 for compare

I have a Pioneer Elite SC-95 which is almost their top of the line receiver from a handful of years ago. The two things that it doesn't do that I'd like it to do are:

-HDMI 2.1 / HDCP 2.3 so I can do Dolby Vision and VRR (and also for future proofing).

I don't have a lot of Dolby Vision content, so it's not urgent.

That being said, almost any other receiver that I look at that has HDMI 2.1 / HDCP 2.3 AND pre-outs for the fronts is ~$1000 to $1500. This has that (win) -- so I can use my 2-channel amp for my towers. It also allows Zone 2 (so I can run my deck speakers).

Outside of an ugly heads up display / menu... am I nuts to think this is a great buy for the price?
